A few things stuck me - first was that Terry was playing and being involved simply to try and better his image, a cynical viewpoint but it has been done countless times before by people using a charitable cause to make themselves look better, but hearing Stan and he speak of the contact they have been in and the amount of times they have spoken since he was diagnosed, as his most hardened "hater" as the kids put it these days, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on it.

Secondly, I was amazed at how hard and well some of these guys could still play. Tell Pires it was a friendly as he was clattered by Balde 3-4 minutes in!

Next - that kid from 1D. Ah they boil my piss they really do. Not their faults, but the most manufactured 5 boys, electronically altered to produce a noise to a mushy tune to get the knickers of teenage girls wet. They are superstars, with little talent and murder every song they go near. Fair play to the one with the big hair who seems to have cottoned on to the idea that he is young once and should fill his boots, but crikey they are annoying. Thankfully my nearly 15 year old is not a fan at all (I worked out she has more Greenday than any other band on her mp3 player and was secretly quite pleased while we were on holiday this summer) and if my other little girl, who is nearing 2, gets to 15 and starts screeching and wetting herself over something like 1D in the future I might have to live in the shed for a while. I really do not understand it all at all, and Gabby clattering one was hilarious in every way, and the death threats are pathetic from the said phenomena I have already expressed my distaste for. I might have to continue this on OT. Bloody boy bands...

Finally, I thought it was a really brilliant tribute to Stan, and he was clearly moved. It was great to see him out there attempting to run a bit and play. He was a brilliant leader for us and I defy anyone not to be moved by seeing him in the 19th minute. Great bloke, and please god he keeps his health in the future. Good luck Stan whatever comes next.

Plenty of other occasions to have a go at Terry (he'll see to that), But today's not one of them. He's clearly friends with Petrov and it was good of him to be there. Fair play to him.

Why do old folk get so worked up about boy bands?

I feel sorry for the kid. its was a full on challenge from a top professional athlete. it knocked ten shades of sh*t out of him and I can't seehow gabby can come out of this looking anything other than a bully. yeah, funny in a way but the kid was playing in a charity match and although I didn't seethe game I bet there weren't too manyfull on challenges. Not sure what gabby was playing at or what he was trying to prove.

Basically because boy bands are shit and its hard to escape the god awful noise and PR they muster.

He'll live. Think of it as pay-back for all the pain his "music" has inflicted on the ears of the world.

Bollocks to him. He's hardly been hospitalised. Some people get injured in even friendly games of football. Big deal.

I have a 13 year old daughter who loves them and I can quite easily avoid hearing them if I wish so I'm sure you can. From what I've heard of them they seem to be one of the better pop acts of recent times.

Zayn is the best.

I think it's an education for the lad if he thinks he has any desire or right to play professional football. What club is he at this season? Its on an as and when and if he can get in the side deal or something??? But yeah, the way he was running, arms flapping around like a girl, he just did not look anything like a professional footballer. In those celeb charity matches you get the odd player like Robbie Williams mate, or Ralf Little who do far better impressions of a pro footballer, but are still miles off.
It wasn't even that hard a challenge from Gab, but its certainly an eye opener. If Tomlinson plays in one of the lower league games this season, he'll suffer far worse. Perhaps it'll make him realise he's not quite cut out for it. Certainly you have to give your all to this game and be on it full time.
