Seeing as it's the 125th anniversary of the setting up of the world's first football league, I'm wondering if the Premier League will pay tribute (as the Football League are doing) by pairing up original founding members for the opening day of fixtures? An Aston Villa v Everton opener would be good and fitting.
For anyone interested, the Football League have set up a website to celebrate the anniversary, here's a fitting link:
http://fl125.co.uk/aboutThe more I think about it the more I would like to see Villa put a more visible reminder inside Villa Park of our place as the League's creators. Something big and bold that the TV cameras will catch every time Villa are being covered: "THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE GAME" or some such statement. (It would be a whole lot better than the wishy-washy "Theatre of Dreams" stuff that other clubs seem to get away with.)
