Aleksandar Tonev today passed a medical and agreed terms on a move to Villa, with the deal set to be rubberstamped early next week.

Tonev put pen to paper on the contract alongside chief executive Paul Faulkner before his in-house media duties.

The 23-year-old took part in an exclusive interview with the club's in-house television channel AVTV.

He was joined by compatriot and new development assistant manager Stan Petrov, who acted as translator for the flying winger.

Tonev was clearly thrilled to be joining such a traditional and historic club in Villa and spoke of his excitement at playing under Paul Lambert, who is building a young and enterprising side in claret and blue.

Then it was the turn of club photographer Neville Williams, who took pictures of Tonev for the official website and external press uses.

He snapped away as the sunshine shone down on the magnificent training ground facility.

Celtic have been linked with Aleksandar Tonev of Lech Poznan in the past. He is 23 and can play as a winger, and could be an option to give us some formational flexibility. Based on his age and the level that he is currently playing at I would have thought he would fit our recruitment strategy - but the Polish league might not be on Lambert's radar.
