A good central defence is integral to any success. As none of our options can be relied on, i'd recommend buying one in the summer.

I still don't rate Baker much, his positioning is awful and he is unbelievably clumsy.

I'm not sure his positioning is anywhere near as bad as Baker's, but yes he's very clumsy and careless as well.

Vlaar needs to play alongside a dominating centre half, as does Baker.

A Lescott-ish signing.

We ll win this in the second half no worry.

Hope we do but it still won't gloss over our appalling defence this season. Our centre backs just aren't good enough and Bennett isn't fit to wear a Villa shirt. That may sound harsh, but our goals conceded column doesn't lie.

I've got more confidence in Bennett improving to a top standard than Baker.

But how long do you give him?

To be fair his shown good signs of improvement since he got fit and playing, he's only been doing that for a quarter of the season.

Have to say, if i were a young, multi millionaire professional footballer today, with nothing really to play for in terms of glory or disgrace, and 90 minutes to see through before I go off on holiday for a month, with all the amazing free time options earning huge amounts of money opens up, I would absolutely coast through this game, and not do anything to risk an injury which would entirely fuck up my holiday plans.

Sometimes we have the ball in the final third and we knock it all the way back to Guzan.

I agree with keeping hold of the ball but there are times they seem to go backwards on purpose and all it does is allows the opposition a sniff of a goal. One of the reasons no clean sheets in 28?

Vlaar horrendous there. It seems one of our biggest defensive issues is concentration.

But he continues to make big mistakes that cost us vital points. The left back position is a weak spot at Villa and it needs sorting out.
