We're truly shit at the back. Can't remember a defence as bad as this.

So the shoddy defending has seen us slip from 11th to 17th in 40 minutes- in placement money that must be about £5m down the pan?

I still don't rate Baker much, his positioning is awful and he is unbelievably clumsy.

Thank McGrath for Benteke. With a defence like ours, we'd have been relegated for sure without his goals.

The midfield just can't seem to keep the ball today either. Weimann's been poor, bring Zog on.

He's been a liability all season.

if they don't address this defence, we'll be bottom 6 again next season.

I see his potential but he is far from the finished product - ok for maybe 10 to 15 games a season if required but not ready for the regular 1st choice role.

Hopefully Vlaar will step up next season after getting this one under his belt but he's brought none of the commanding leadership qualities we need from him.

We've given the ball away an awful lot when attacking too, to be fair Wigan look excellent on the break. They're a funny old team, still not sure how they're going down when they're capable of playing so well.

Ridgewell jokes aside, I'd take Liam over any of our centerbacks right now.
Think we'll need two good ones in the summer. Baker isn't good enough. Clark is probably too much of a liability too, but his ability on the ball gives him more potential. I know Lamberts sworn off experienced domestic players, but I do think one area we're absolutely in desperate need of a experience is at CB. If not premier league, than an equal or better standard. That discounts Dutch football. We can look to ze German leagues, Spanish or Italian.

Good competition/replacement for Bennett is also vital.

I think there's more goals to come from us. Wiemann's having a nightmare. Take him off. Benty has disappeared since his goal. A nice send off, but I'd be tempted to give Bowery plenty of time up front. See what he can do.

Unless he sorts his positioning and concentration he will never make it.

£4.5M - From the Daily Heil:

MID-TABLE MEDIOCRITY: WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR CLUB

10th: West Ham (v Reading H) - Could finish as high as ninth with nine-goal swing (£9million), as low as 14th (£4.5m)

11th: Stoke City (v Southampton A) - As high as 10th (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

12th: Norwich (v Man City A) - As high as 10th with eight-goal swing (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

13th: Newcastle (v Arsenal H) - As high as 10th with 12-goal swing (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

14th: Southampton (v Stoke H) - As high as 10th (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

15th: Fulham (v Swansea A) - As high as 10th with three-goal swing (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

16th: Aston Villa (v Wigan A) - As high as 10th with 12-goal swing (£8.3m), as low as 17th (£3m)

17th: Sunderland (v Tottenham H) - As high as 11th (£7.5m), as low as 17th (£3m)

And yes, Ron Vlaar has been a monumental disappointment so far.

Really?

I thought we had plenty of the ball in the middle and kept it quite well.

The problem is the defence. I actually thought Baker looked comfortable until the second goal, mind. We had multiple attempts to clear it and took none of them.
