Just got home and have to say that tonight was a very special night.  Great atmosphere and the Holte was bouncing.  Every Villa player performed well tonight with Benteke and Gabby being a real threat, but I thought Lowton was excellent.  Would also like to give Sylla and Bennett a mention as things have been tough for them at times since they arrived, but both more than played their part tonight.

Haven't read the thread and I know Benteke will rightly get the plaudits.  But for me Lowtons performance was simply incredible. On this performance it's hard to see why we are 5th bottom.

The goals conceded column.

That aside, for me the big difference is Ron Vlaar. He just seems to bring so much maturity and confidence to the kids around him.

Mention for the Sunderland fans, a lot acting complete bellends on Witton Lane before the game, I came close to sparking one of them. And yet inside it looked like to  a man they applauded the 19th minute, applauded the kids doing their lap of honour at HT as well as applauding as we remembered Villans lost in the last year.

That tribute was wonderful. One minute referring to a player who was a Welsh international, then remembering a bloke who worked in the Ticket Office. Great gesture from the Club. I am sure the families of those involved really appreciated it.
I wish that I had noticed Carlos clapping throughout the 19th minute. I was hoping he would be taken off so that we could have given him a standing ovation for his services to the Club.

Maybe it went unnoticed but fair play to Cuellar who clapped the whole minute on 19.

That's fantastic, particularly as they were defending a free kick at the time! I wonder if there's any footage of that anywhere.

Gabby was also my MOTM as well. Fuckin love him!
I thought Gabby was masterful tonight however MOTM in my opinion was Sylla.

Ill be honest, I thought he was complete rubbish till tonight. He was excellent though. Really good defensive midfield performance.

Marvellous,just marvellous.

I thought Sunderland were marginally the better side first half so to go in one up was very welcome.

The hunger the team showed second was amazing, even at 6.1 they were still running at full pelt to close them down.

Lawton was perfect, Sylla very good, Gabby put in a captains performance but a special mention for Delph who I thought drove us on and looked a real leader.

Fantastic night. Special mentions for Lowton who was out of this world and also Bennett who might end up proving a few people wrong based on that performance.

Sky game... vs a team in form... huge pressure and the kids delivered. Very proud tonight.

One of those nights that our young fans will be telling their kids about in 40 years. Brilliant, brilliant Villa!
Yes those are the things to treasure.
I normally take two of my nephews  to the match on rotating basis as I have one  junior ST. Tonight I took advantage of the £5 offer and took them both. I bet they are going to have a great week at school  giving it right back to their  glory hunting  mates!

Oh, and the noise from the fans was immense. I think folk will be talking about the atmosphere for years to come.

It's games like tonight, on and off the pitch, that are the reason we keep going to games when things are tough.
