Sad news.

A genuine Doug acolyte over the years and most definately one of us.

Might be worth listening to long lost classic double A side, Hey Aston Villa/ We're the Holte End by way of marking his passing.

Sorry mate, it was A.S.T.O.N. V.I.L.L.A, not Hey Aston Villa. The latter was released a few years later by Ricky somebody or other. Ricky Valente rings a bell for some reason. I had the Dave Ismay and The Holte End one on claret and blue vinyl (although every copy may have been like that for all I know.) Sad news about Dave Ismay, I think I did read though a while ago that he was ill.

I was never quite sure of his role at Villa Park, I met him once whilst doing some corporate schmoozing and he was pleasant enough. In truth he was probably a better match day announcer than comedian which isn't saying much, and his ambassadorial role with corporate clients was more his forte.

However I have no doubt that he was a Villa man to his core and for that reason alone his place with the Holtenders in the Sky should be assured- RIP Dave Ismay.

When I was watching the Stoke game on Football First the other Saturday i'm sure they showed a pic of Doug and Dave Ismay was sat next to him, had he been ill or was it sudden?

Edit - read the Birmingham Mail report so can see it was sudden, a real shame

RIP.  I will admit to giving him stick in the past but he was a Villa man and that'll do for me.

Sad news to hear someone, who obviously had a lot of love for the club has passed away.

When ever I hear him mentioned, I always have a little chuckle, remembering him trying to sing You'll Never Walk Alone, when playing Liverpool, during the last game in front of the old Holte End. Poor bloke took some stick!

RIP Holte Ender In The Sky.

Don't think that was him, was it?
