There was a chap behind me who whinged about Bennett for the entire game. He said 'Of all my time down Villa, i've never seen a player like Joe Bennett' about three or four times in one of those irritating matter of factly voices which he thought everyone else needed to hear. He was such a pompous cock arse.

He's got a point though!

Well I don't think he has and I hate fans that single out a player to winge at even when they have a decent game, which I thought Bennett did!

Okay Bennett has been prone to errors but I think he is improving and will be a decent player.

Once again before people jump in moaning its a unit made up of players who have never played before and have never played in the premiership. Even the best defenders in the world would have difficulty with that setup.

Lad by me was straight on his back the first time he misplaced one. I pointed out that Benteke had already given the ball back to fulham three times, to which he replied, "well, yeah, but you've gotta pick on someone."

Piss poor after we scored and Weimann and N'Zog shouldn't have been taken off. The goal we conceded was absolutely criminal, and I don't think Bowery should be starting for us at all. That's nothing against him, he's just not good enough currently.
Totally agree. Poor substitutions as was the case at Stoke. We got away with that after a very nervy period. It is ridiculous that we should be waiting for the whistle to secure one point instead of losing. It's a pity the whole team haven't got the work rate of Baker.

A massive two points dropped - but in the end we just held out when Fulham pressed for a winner. In order to survive the drop we need clean sheets - hasn`t happened much this season so I cant see it happening now, especially with the likes of Manure and Chelski coming up.
I felt for Delph yesterday as he put a good shift in as did Westwood. The two full backs are dire defenders and are constantly picked out by the opposition as weak links. I agree with others that we missed Gabby`s pace up front yesterday. Benteke was poor for me .. dare I say he looked a bit "half arsed" at times. Possibly for the first time Brad didn`t call when the corner came in ....plus there was a defender on the front stick so I cant see why Delph was there in the first place.

Berbatov was a class act. Linked everything that Fulham did and did it at walking pace.
He was almost effortless while playing the ball about. Just a good job he hadn't got his shooting boots on. That was the only flaw in his game.

Re the substitutions I thought Lambert had it spot on and all of the subs added something, I really cant understand anyone who doesn't see something in Sylla. He's athletic, powerful and doesnt give the ball away, when he gets a few games under his belt I see him being one of the first names on the team sheet. Holman added energy and Bent also looked sharp. Both Weimann and CNZ had run out of steam.

Pretty much how I saw it too
Likewise

Holman adds energy but very little ability.

This was one of the winnable games we'd have surely targetted so its disappointing not to get the three points.

Looking back on yesterday I do wonder whether the win at Stoke made the players a little too confident and comfortable. There wasn't the urgency we've seen in recent games, the crowd too seemed to be very quiet, expecting a comfortable home win, all in all a very disappointing day and result. Now with Sunderland thrashing Newcastle, we really are back in the brown stuff and the home game with Sunderland is our D Day. For the first time this season I'm concerned.

Man utd aren't playing too well. But we could be 2-0 up with ten to go up there and still lose.

I think there's a good chance we'll be back in the bottom 3 by the time we play Sunderland. Wigan have three games between now and then.

Urgh. Could do with Sunderland coming back down to earth against
Everton. I really did not expect that result today, at all.

I wouldn't have said the crowd were expecting an easy win, it just seemed very nervous and Fulham's game plan was sound, get men behind the ball and make us do something unpredictable. The noise when we went ahead was incredible and at the end there was no dissent, I do think there is a feeling of togetherness about the team and the crowd that Stoke and Wigan don't have.

N'Zogbia being substituted was the right thing to do. All he did for me was score a goal. He consistently makes the wrong decisions position ally and with the ball. He takes players on when he should pass, passes when he should take them on and shoots when it is the wrong option. Yes he scored a good goal, but our problem yesterday was the midfield/attack not keeping possession at key times. CNZ was right to go off.

I agree he takes the wrong option too often. But he was involved in most of our best chances yday I thought

N'Zogbia put in as much effort into helping the team as he's ever done yesterday. Don't think you could question his commitment yesterday.

I have not questioned his commitment. I question his football brain and decision making. I don't think Lambert questions his commitment either, but I'm sure he will not want to keep him next season. You are right that he had his most influential game yesterday but 6/10 is as goog as it gets IMO.

Dear grief. I wonder how on earth people like this think they are helping the Villa cause?

I disagree.  I thought Sylla looked good when he came on and I was hoping Villa could still go on and win it at the end - and Benteke nearly did with that last chance.

As for N'Zog the word round by where I was sitting was that he took a knock.
