I'm glad Christian took it on himself. Any other time in that situation we would have passed to Sylla who is offside.

I'm also glad the two were that side as it meant Begovic leaned that way anticipating the pass and Benteke had the right side to score in.

Just imagine if he had missed and Stoke had gone up the other end and equalised. It's a thin line and all that...

It's hardly a thin line. That's a very big 'if'.

Not when it comes to the Villa and the last five minutes of games Dave, anything is possible!

If, he'd missed and if, they'd got the ball, and if, they'd gone up the other end and if, they'd scored.

If he had missed, and he's missed easier ones, they would have got the ball, and the ball would ahve gone up to the other end, ........

Then the referee would have sent off half the Villa team for, you know, whatever, and the Stoke would have scored 6 goals in the next 30 seconds, and Villa would have been sold off and bought by Kim Jong of North Korea...

I mean, Benteke has missed chances before, and no other striker in the world does that - misses chances sometimes I mean.

That's assuming the keeper collected the ball...which he wouldn't have.  The best scenario for him is that he saves it with his feet, Benteke picks it up at a tight angle and can then pass it to one of the other 3 who on receiving it realize the potentially dangerous situation they are in. Without hesitation they then run the ball into the corner to run the clock down.

Not really, they walk it into an empty net.

Matty Lowts was even in my dream last night.  I Don't think i've gone so crazy at an away game since Gabby bagged the Winner at St. Andrews in 2010.  If we had of have come away from the ground without the three points i would have felt seriously robbed, we looked comfortable all game.  I saw Matt Lowtons brother standing on his chair almost in tears when that quite marvellous strike hit the slack net up our end, it was definately an 'i was there' moment.

And with the whole Benteke scenario, at the end of the day he didn't strike the ball until Begovic's left knee was planted on the ground therefore he knew he was going to score.

Probably the best performance of the season.  Carry on like that and we'll stay up with ease.

If we keep on beating the sides we should be beating, we'll have no problems, and we'll be looking better going into next season too. We've got 3 very winnable games to come. Utd and Chelsea will probably prove fruitless, though I'd actually fancy taking something off Chelsea. I think we're due a good performance against that mob after earlier in the season.

I don't wish to take anything away from the lad, but now he's mastered the art of scoring belters (which is great), he can concentrate on mastering the art of defending.

I would have liked to have seen Lambert's reaction to the Lowton goal.

One thing I love about this team is their togetherness and spirit - the way they celebrated the goal with Lowton told me a lot about their team spirit.  Even Bent was one of the first over to him warmly congratulating him and looking genuinely pleased for the lad.
