With a nod of appreciation to PWS how about, whatever he decides to do, a round of applause on the 19th minute at the first home game of the season? If nothing else it will again focus attention for Stan's foundation.
Loving the username. Reminds me of a predictive text I sent my brother saying I like Lemon Helm's Electric Skirt!

A real shame for Stan given how hard he's worked.  I just hope now the club dont get slated by the more ignorant sections of the media for not offering him a deal.  Has to be right for both parties.

Sadly its already started.  Getting battered for stabbing him the back and being a vile club with no morals.

I'm sure he gave it his best shot but Stan still looks a bit heavy. I hope he takes on the role offered.  It shows me that RDM is ruthless and not worried about having to make unpopular decisions. Stan is a real hero and always will be, but there is no sentiment in football and harsh as it sounds, I think this is probably the right decision.

On another note, looks like Gil, Veretout and Sanchez all going, no Stan either, leaves us light in the centre of the park, particularly with Westwood still around. Need another signing in there.

This was always going to be a very difficult situation, well done Stan and Villa.

Well they're all morons. I'm pretty sure Stan wouldn't have wanted to be offered a contract unless he earned it on merit.

I see what RDM meant now about players leaving and the fans being disappointed.

Stan is the man, however sentiment when picking a squad  or team  has to go out the window, otherwise the likes of Hutton would be sitting on the top table at any hall of fame.

It was near impossible task for him in reality given his age,  time out of the top game  etc.  Everyone wishes him the best and he will always  be a folk hero no matter where and what he does in life.

Yeah I think this is the real issue. We may have a big squad but it is not really balanced. Its uncanny how we manage to always have a weak/lightweight midfield in recent years.

The manager could not let sentiment influence his decision but I am disappointed for him all the same and I imagine Stan is gutted.

Would have been a nice story I suppose but if he's not up to it he's not up to it, and at the end of the day it'd be worse to give him a contract out of sentiment. We're a football club not a charity.
