Ah, our great leader doing some authoritative pointing work.

I love Lambert. I genuinely think he's going to do great things with this club.

His finger work is certainly an improvement on McLeish and his frankly baffling hand gestures.

To be entirely honest, I've always thought the players take no notice of managers most of the time, and it's hard to see how they can convey what they want to say from the sideline.

Especially when they're a bit mumbly like Lambert. Maybe the explanation for our record defending corners is because the players are distracted by trying to work out what he's shouting?

Robbie Keane, he's always pointing or doing stupid goal celebrations.

Good call Chris, Keane is definitely a pointer par excellence.  I think he'd quite have liked the odd Villa player to run into a bit of space from time to time, and seemed exasperated at just how alien a concept it was to everybody.

Some of the finger-use that did my head in was the Anelka post-goal digital acrobatics when he held his linked hands on his chest and waggled the fingers. Other players - like the incomparably idiotic Bramble - also used to do it.

I thought that was really noticeable at times when he was with us, the total lack of movement, for someone who'd been playing at Spurs, must have been baffling.

I also thought Stephen Ireland, when he first joined, used to do a fair bit of that "astonished nobody moves off the ball" thing, right up until he thought "fuck it, who cares?".
