Nathan Baker was outstanding today, true commitment from the lad.

Not sure on that, he did well when he was in the box and the ball went in the box. However when he was on the left he was pretty horrible, giving away stupid fouls and letting far too many crosses come in.

So does Bennett.

At least

At least Baker is a big unit so he's good to have defending those set pieces.

Yep I agree, I was saying his left back play was poor though which it was.

I would expect the team we had today to be the one we put out at Stoke in April. Depends on injuries and suspensions of course but only real changes would be I think Gabby coming back in and maybe Sylla coming in to midfield.

And I still think that not only are Norwich in this but West Ham too. They're abysmal away from home and have Spurs and Man Utd up next at home.
I too have been thinking Norwich could soon be in the mixer soon, Southampton are playing too well unfortunately so I reckon it's between the bottom 4 plus Norwich.
In the next 12 games all we have to do is be no worse than Wigan or Reading, surely that's possible. Reckon QPR have gone which is a pleasant surprise.

Delph. I don't get him. Stupid, reckless challenges. Over runs when in possession. Positioning is poor. Likely to make mistakes. cant deny his 100% effort, but he's just not good enough. I know he got MOTM, but everyone around me in the Holte was very surprised with that.
You couldn't be more wrong if you agreed with everything  fat Sam spouted!
Delph was our most influential player today. Fantastic work rate and some telling intervention when we were  under press topped with some very good attacking balls. Rightly named MotM.

Despite N'Zogbia winning the penalty and scoring a free-kick?

Delph was/is part of our problem in beating shit teams.

Is Dunne close to getting back?

If the rumour I heard is correct, he's been fit for weeks.

Yes the rumours are spread  by Dunne himself and it's his own assessment and we know the standard!

Just at Birmingham airport....had a really enjoyable day (apart from almost missing the start of the game and having to run to the stadium because my uncle took a wrong turn).

Massive three points and we defended those corners. Phew!!!!

Also, nice to meet you Dave W.

Safe home Mel.  Glad you enjoyed the experience.  Please bring your dad again, lucky mascot.

Thanks Dave, will try. He was getting into it by the end....and, I thought the Villa fans were brilliant in the closing twenty minutes, you can tell it does make a difference on the pitch. The players began to look nervous after about 35 minutes when the goal they probably deserved didn't come and the place went quiet. But second half, the fans were with them til the death.

Bennett would argue that Baker has had a player in front of him to help out. Bennett has been part of a formation which resulted in him being on his own facing two players (due to no midfielder realising they need to help both full backs.)

Villa win, Gloucester win, England win. This is the holy grail that I have never realised until today. And I'm too ill to drink beer. There's always something to moan about.

..and Gloucester City too. There must be a solar alignment or something.

We won. The league table says we're out of the bottom three.

Typical of my luck at the moment.  I'm going home on Thursday for a few days and there's no friggin match.  I'll try and get to Walsall with my son and grandson.  If not I'll look up the non-league fixtures local to where he lives.

Delph was good, especially in the first half. Drove us on, neat on the ball. Thought he did well today.
