I dont understand why Bowery was on the pitch....just dont understand Lamberts thinking.

Personally I thought him, Lowton and Charles linked up well on the right although maybe over elaborated. He also helped at set pieces and gave Lowton some cover. When West Ham broke from our corner in the first half, Bowery ran the player down.

I thought Bowery had a fine first half, tracked back well, linked up well, showed some nice touches but the game was starting to pass him by in the second half when he went off, he looks ok to me.

Agreed. The subs were spot on today to counter the changes made by Spam.

Despite the low quality of things, I thought that today followed on quite successfully from the best bits of the Everton game. Specifically, the team looked a lot more organised for the most part than it has done for most of the season.

Everyone seemed to understand their role, and stuck to it pretty well until the last ten minutes or so. That's a significant improvement.

And although he looks technically a little short, I'm including Bowery in the above - he did a good job of tracking back on a number of occasions and provided Lowton with both useful cover and a simple pass.

Finally, I was pleasantly surprised by Dawkins' half hour. He seemed quite comfortable, and showed some nice touches and good technique. Early days, of course, but I suspect I may have scoffed a little too hard!

Bowery was on purely to add height defending corners. He seemed OK at that, but otherwise quite poor overall.

Still, there may be a player in there somewhere..

PL has been slated at times for his substitutions lately, it's only right that he gets credit where credit is due.

If he was there purely to add height and physicality then shouldn't we have played Sylla on the right? Just as big, but quicker and more technically able as well.

Totally agree.
Just lately we do appear to be more organised. The quality and confidence is lacking, but if the organisation is right, at least you have a starting point.
Onwards and upwards.

Vital win. Lambert's post match comments were more understandable - he sounds like a weight had been lifted and I hope that goes around the whole club and we can make a fist of staying up.

I thought Bowery did ok for his first start. Helped out a lot defensively and was calm on the ball. One good through ball to NZog who was fouled. Not an attacking threat on the day but encouraging.
West Ham were extremely negative first half and just got behind the ball. From start of the second half they went very direct which caused us to struggle a bit, lots of corners yet again.
But come on, haven't won at home in League for ages, it was always going to be nervy.
I just want them to have a go, and today the effort from all was clear. hope has returned!

Just at Birmingham airport....had a really enjoyable day (apart from almost missing the start of the game and having to run to the stadium because my uncle took a wrong turn).

Massive three points and we defended those corners. Phew!!!!

Also, nice to meet you Dave W.

Just a feeling of utter relief to see us collect a rare 3 points, particularly after Weimann missed that tricky chance early doors. The defensive display was greatly improved and I am very much in the pro-Baker camp. Not a full back perhaps but easily as good as the ones we have plus he shows commendable aggression and commitment to the cause. I broke a world record towards the end of the game by saying 'here we fucking go again' over a gazillion times in under 10 minutes. Thank The Lord for Guzan. This roller coaster is far from over and I have this sickening feeling we will be heavily involved right up to the final day. I'm not sure I can take it.
Quote of the day 'Lambert must have given them a right mumbling to at half-time'. Brilliant!
Knob of the day jointly awarded to Huge Sam and 'Butch(?)' Wilkins. What the fuck do you know you baldy twat?
