Couldn't understand why Jarvis was an unused sub for them, player with pace and an excellent crosser.[\b]

They'll be burning effegies of Big Sam in the East end just for that.

Allardice - was a player with no pace and an absolute tosser

Thank christ for the win, losing today didn't bear thinking about.  Shocking miss from young Weimann early on, but he's been great this season so can forgive him that.  Benteke always looks like the player most likely to score, although what we were doing starting with a player like Bowery in a game this important beggars belief.  It's looking like it's going to be three team from four to go down, so somehow we need to maintain the momentum now.  We'll be lucky to get anything out of the next two games, so Reading at home is going to be a huge game.

Its reading away risso!

Er yes, so it is!  Still huge though!

TBH, both of those matches are those ones were we could easily get something, or we could lose badly. Benteke should get goals against that Arse defence and they are not normally a team that capitalises on corners. But they could pull us apart quite easily if on their game. As for Citeh, well Balotelli isn't playing anymore so who knows.

It amazes me that the West Ham fans put up with that shite every week. Aren't they supposed to be all about the academy and something approaching football?

After seeing that is anyone still insane enough to want Allardyce anywhere near B6?

Obviously Gabby was going to start today before illness so I just assumed Lambert wanted to play 4 attackers like at Everton last week so Bowery could do an imitation of Gabby.

I thought he worked hard but like most of our lower league signings lacks quality at key moments. Dawkins looked pretty bright in his cameo.

Apart from the win, the most pleasing aspect of today was our midfield. Seeing the team selection, I really expected us to get ripped a new one.

Luckily Big Sam's tactics of starting with 5-3-2 and plating the ball up to Carroll at every opportunity helped us out. Also Delph having a blinder helped as well.

N'Zogbia pretty much won the game for us today and has arguably been our best player since he's come back from injury. Certainly a player who you think something might happen when he's on the ball. Obviously it doesn't all come off for him, but it didn't for A.Young either.

Benteke is frustrating. When hanging on, he stood around allowing their players more time on the ball when, understandably, our defence & midfield were dropping deeper. He needs to be more committed, he'd be a much better player for it. Very good penalty though, saw the goalie move and so put it the other way.

Delph. I don't get him. Stupid, reckless challenges. Over runs when in possession. Positioning is poor. Likely to make mistakes. cant deny his 100% effort, but he's just not good enough. I know he got MOTM, but everyone around me in the Holte was very surprised with that.

How are West Ham that many points ahead of us???

Was a toss up between Delph and Clark for my MOTM.

Thank god for 3 points, bit mystified about Charlie, great goal but his final ball at times is awful, Westwood if playing while ill, showed that he was ill, Baker left back suspect but gave us added height and strength , if Bowery is the answer not sure what the question was, but showed the lack of quality in the squad if he gets a start if Gabbys injured, but yet again thank god for 3 points, now to build on that regardless of who we are playing, because weekends results wont always be like this weekend.

i dont think they do want to put up with it, but its a bit like us with TSM you dont get a chioce and you  still want to support the team
i suppose his name gets mentioned on here because he knows how to keep a team up, lets face it WH are poor but they wont go down because big sams football does produce points

i like you cant stand that sort of stuf though, and if thats what football was all about i would walk away from watching the game, thankfully its not

Them singing "Big Fat Sam's claret and blue army" indicates they don't hate it though. What they produced today was as bad as anything Stoke have ever produced. Made the stuff we played under MON look like Brazil '70.

I have felt a surge of optimism this evening.  Partly because we're out of the bottom 3, partly because we defended a bit better, partly because we scored a couple despite having a bad day up front, but mainly because it was an absolute must win today and we somehow found a way to do just that.

Tougher tests to come but it was a good day today.
