I remember a story puffed by Janet Street Porter when she was editor of The Independent On Sunday that she'd made the business `carbon neutral'.

How the hell a business can be carbon neutral when its only product is a kilogramme of disposable newsprint, I don't know. Maybe she'd bought a few energy-saving lightbulbs or something.

Manual toothbrush innit.

I work in "the greenest building in Canary Wharf", whatever that means. Everyone seems to be very pleased about it though

Although I'd happily set fire to a pile of old tyres and shitty nappies in exchange for 3 points on Sundee.

I couldn't give a shit about the football myself and want the match on Sunday to be cancelled so we can plant trees all over the pitch as a green hippy love statement.  I mean we've got two football teams in Birmingham, do we really need that many?  It's just greedy.

I remember a former boss of mine telling me in gushing terms how he had made both his businesses carbon neutral and how important it was to do the little things for the environment yada yada.

He then suggested we go out and grab a sandwich (from one of the shops located about a 3 minute walk away).

I assumed we'd walk, but he pointed at the "rain" (I say "rain", but it hardly qualified, tiny spots of water every now and then), said "fuck that, we'll take the car" and insisted we drive there in his gas guzzling Aston Martin.

"The little things add up", he said. Hmmm.

The thing is it is better that we do this than not, and for what it is worth it is better than being tagged as the opposite. Still, it's all drowned out by the noise of our current league position and plight which is understandable. The club has done a number of very good things behind the scenes that should be spoken about and applauded, but at the end of the day the number 1,2,3....priority is first team football.

It is good to see Aston Villa is doing their bit for environment. I wonder do they use renewenable energy for power ie solar energy with solar panels. Well Done Paul. But this still doesn't solve our football problems.

I have heard the players not getting win bonuses has paid for this.

The amount of time and money invested in this project should have been used on the reason this business is here, the football.

It probably cost less than half a week's wages of one of our players to do it. Still, that could have helped to sign a player, couldn't it?

We'll soon fuck this up by setting fire to everything in the ground when we go down.

I may not understand this fully, but is this where our transfer budget went - Randy buying carbon credits?

Guess its expensive balancing your carbon footprint when you heat a lawn in winter and fly your jet around picking up managers.
