how about I attend all Wigan's fixtures and wail like a banshee at crucial moments?

Every time the get a corner, run down and whip out the old boy and start wind-milling it as the Wigan player comes to place the ball in the quadrant.

This can be done in conjunction with the wailing.

If we can somehow scrape home against Sunderland, there could be 4 teams all fighting on the same points. We then need to better 1 of their points tallies in the Norwich, Chelsea and Wigan games. Next Monday is massive. Stoke and Sunderland still to play each other too. Hope Norwich can beat Stoke and be safe by the time we play them too.

All these variables would do your head in.

A few seasons of mid-table mediocrity would be a dream.

I'd rather Norwich were a bag of nerves when we play them.

We are the only ones Wigan can realistically overturn unless one of the other teams mentioned go on a disastrous run of form.

Not checked in the last ten minutes, but I could've sworn they already are.

They've done enough to scrape through over the season, that's why the bookies have them at 20-1 to go down, with us and Wigan the only ones in the frame.I'm not being negative it's just true. They're not mathematically safe but they are as good as and hopefully if we win and Wigan  lose by a good margin so will we be,but I just get the feeling the way the season has gone and our ability to shoot ourselves in the foot it won't be that simple

If we win on Monday, which I think is very likely, then we're level on points with Sunderland, who may in turn be level with Stoke if Norwich score twice at the weekend, who in all likelihood will be level with Newcastle after Liverpool beat them.

If Wigan lose, then I would agree, those teams are unlikely to go down and just as unlikely as the Villa.

Basically if Wigan lose and we win, this nightmare will be practically over.Wigan will be odds on to go down

The bookies odds will change game by game.  If, as I expect and hope, we beat Sunderland we'll go out and they'll come in.  Wigan need to do a lot, and have a lot go in their favour, to stop being favourites, which illustrates why they're very likely to go down, thereby saving us.  I think we're 2nd favourites based on being closest to Wigan in the table more than the bookies actually expecting them to get out of it.

As it stands we're in the bottom 3 if Wigan beat Swansea so far too early to be writing the Wigan obituary imo.

Let's see the state of play after they play WBA and Swansea.
