Their goal tonight was an exact replica of the 3rd one they scored at Valley Parade.

Jones hits the corner right into the 6 yard box and one of their plays runs in to power it into the net.

If a league two club had score a corner like that and make it simple, then why the hell do we go two years without scoring from a corner with this float it to the back post nonsense time and again.

Ridiculous.
Float it in over every one in the box. What a load of shit this club is.

Benteke was in no mans land for their goal too.

His heading is woeful anyway though.

I would just leave Benteke up front. It might even make the opposition leave a couple of extra defenders back there. So many of our set-piece goals just lately have shown Benteke to make a mistake.

Why are we never learning as the season goes on? What exactly are they doing at Bodymoor Heath?

Whilst everyone is disappointed, no one died! as bad as he is, you can't blame Dowd, no decision he made stopped us from a goal scoring opportunity. It is a young team, with no experienced 'leader' who can instill some confidence on the pitch. Sacking Lambert is going to acheive nothing, you have the same 'tools' to do the same job. Learner is the problem, as it was when Martin O'neil left the club.
We had it in the bag at half time, what the hell happened? We were not the same team 2nd half.
But good luck to Bradford, they wont win the final but remember the big clubs that have gone out.
Come on the Villa boys. make us proud. Love  June Allen xxxx

Stick him front post. It's not rocket science.

Benteke should just be on the front post to head away any under hit corners like Carew and Heskey used to do.

In fairness that wouldn't have stopped their goal tonight but yeah keep him away from defending the 6 yard box.

having not seen their goal was benteke involved in terms of losing his man?

Sort of - his new strategy appears to be 'marking space'.  The goal was scored by header within a couple of yards of him.

Losing to a 4th Division Club over 2 legs. STILL not being able to defend a fucking corner. Embarrasing hammerings by Chelsea and Spurs. Home defeats to Wigan and Saints. 22nd January and no new signings. God knows how many points chucked away in the last few minutes. I've never been at so a low ebb as a Villa fan even when we flirted with relegation under TSM.

I was a staunch supporter of Lambert but somethings got to give. If he's not backed by Lerner then it seems he is unable to get results out of what we have...for whatever reason.

Millwall and Newcastle wins or he's gone...if not before.

Absolute nail on the head. The tactical naivety is unbelievable. Given is quite simply a poor Goalkeeper but great shot stopper. No striker should be  able to head a ball in the 6 yard box as the keeper should be claiming it. Given was rooted.

Guzan should have been in goal tonight. That was obvious from the first leg.

Well just got back to Manc.  First half OK and we looked alright if a little pedestrian and lacking in penetration.  The second half was as bad as anything I've seen produced by a Villa team and was a disgrace to our club, the Manager and players should hang their heads in shame.  I've now got serious doubts on the Lambert project as he was out thought by a lower division Manager over 2 legs, shocking.

If Lerner thinks running the club in such a way that losing to a Division 4 side is acceptable in a semi final, he needs to take a long look in the mirror.  You are the custodian Randy as you've said yourself and your approach is slowly strangling the life out of the club.
