Short term Bent was good but long term selling Young and Downing within weeks was the beginning of the end of his effectiveness here and he just became another expensive player we couldn't shift and eventually let go for nothing. Much like N'zogbia.

I don't think that's true.  He was doing fine under McLeish it was the injury in the January that was the beginning of the end for him as a footballer in general, he just never looked right after that.

I will never view floral decoration in the same way again. Anyone who out-tools Ireland is indeed, the king of tools.

Lazy, self-centered, money grabbing wanker. 63k a week for the last five years. Truly shocking return. Almost a Steve Hodge for me. Boooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Certainly not the worst player, but I kind of agree.  We needed to replace with quality that summer.  We got him.

Was never convinced by his signing.  Think he has tended to do better at smaller clubs where the pressure was off and he could stand more and impact on the team.  Think he did work best when McLeish was in charge, because they we were playing so deep that he proved a natural outlet.  But he just wasn't up to the fight long term and did almost nothing going forward.  A big waste money and a poor attitude to boot.

He embodied everything that had gone wrong at the club. He will never be missed. His apathy, misery, his body language, his couldn't give a shitness was Aston Villa for every year of his contract. And like Aston Villa he gave us a rare good performance once in a while only for it to be vanquished just as quickly.
