Long time since ive felt this tense a day before a game , a massive game which could have a huge bearing on our season - will be a wonderful night or utter heartbreak.

I was just saying something similar. I can't remember a game where the only two possible outcomes are so vastly different, with absolutely no in between. We will either a) suffer one of the most humiliating results in our history (albeit possibly over two legs), or b) be planning a trip to a Wembley cup final. It's gonna be a nervey night!

The problem for me is the people taking the piss. If we go out, it's bloody hilarious and we'll be torn apart at work/school the next day. If we win, it's exactly what we should be doing and will get no credit.

Very frustrating.

If we win don't worry about not getting credit, just enjoy the fact we're in a final. If people say it was a lucky draw, remind them we've already knocked out Man City away. When Pompey won the FA cup they got just about the easiest Semi Final and Final opponents anyone could wish for. But they'd kind of earned it in a way as they previously knocked out Man U at Old Trafford.

The pisstaking makes defeat no worse in my experience.

It just winds me up how people who have no interest in football suddenly come out of the woodwork as 'lifelong' blues or Man Utd fans and feel like they have the right to take the mickey.

With age you learn a very important lesson.  You take the piss out of the result first.  It throws them completely.

That's... not a bad idea at all. I'd probably lose any sense of pride or dignity I've ever had but it's worth it to steal their satisfaction.

I've always found the best thing to do is wait for them to finish then say "So?"

Believe you me it is.  They start spluttering and then come out with positives about the Villa and you get your pride and dignity back.

It's easy to shut them up. Just give them a quid and say "here you go mate, this should keep your club going for another few days"
