I know this is really bad, but I am finding it hard to care too much about this game while our top flight death struggle goes on.

I'm gonna quote myself from the other semi-final thread.

Quote
Those of you who claim to not care about the cup, I've never seen Villa lift a trophy in my lifetime of following them with a passion. While some of you have the European Cup, countless League cups, division titles, and maybe even an FA Cup if you're old enough, I have nothing. My 'great villa memories' are being in the Holte when Blues got relegated, seeing us win the Peace Cup, and the few seasons we were almost better than Everton. Do you know how depressing that is?

Don't you dare try and take my excitement away from this, it's all I have as younger Villa fan, and being at Wembley to watch Man United lift it 3 years ago almost broke my heart. Lets turn them over and win our cup again, for the thousands of kids my age who don't know what it's like.

Defeat will make it harder to, ahem, pick up and go again. It would be a bigger kick in the balls than the Chelsea game.
I'm just dreading getting run-over  :'(

Which begs the question: why did you cross the road?

Because the big, bad lion chased him away. Hopefully.

Because he was being pusued by Jimmy Savile

Fair play to you.  But in 94 and 96 when we last won the League Cup, it felt like we almost deserved to win a trophy as a reward for being such a great team at the time.  Not it's almost like it's a consolation prize, and I'd gladly trade getting to the final for a guarantee of staying up.  Sorry.

Got a feeling that this could be one of the great Villa Park nights, the type of which we haven't had for a while.  Hopefully a full house and early goal will get the place rocking.

The ground will be bouncing and we will win, easily, and we will win the cup and we will stop up.

Jimmy Savile was a Yorkshireman. Sort of like Compo out of 'Last of the Summer Wine,' but a necrophile.

Totally see where you are coming from, but I think the point trying to be made is the old "greater good". In my lifetime villa seem to average a cup final every 6 years or so, and even at 17 villa have been to at least 2 in yours chipsticks. If villa win this but went down, the average of seeing villa in a final may increase.

Those are very valid points, but I don't see why we shouldn't see this as a fantastic opportunity to build the lads confidence back up? Battering a team in front of a noisy sold-out home crowd would be a wonder for confidence and morale! (Although alternatively if we get beat it could be catastrophic)
