Once Vlaar is back from injury we will be much more solid at the back. In the summer Dunne, Warnock (and I suppose Petrov) are off the books, freeing up a metric load in terms of wages. We still have a great shot at reaching the League Cup final. A lot of our youngsters are getting a lot of playtime and experience. You could argue against this but I think Delph, Lowton, Weimann, Baker, Clark and Westwood have all improved as footballers (you could say the results show otherwise but I feel that earlier in the season with Gabby, Vlaar, Benteke (on form) and El Ahmadi in the team we were much more solid and once they come back in those players I listed will be a marked improvement on what we saw in the first month).

I believe the manager has bought well over the summer and if we stick with him we will restore Villa to its former glory, all the youngsters are getting better and I think a couple of signings in this window combined with injuries coming back we will finish comfortably above the drop zone. In the summer we could hopefully offload some more time-wasters (Ireland, N'Zog, Bent?, Hutton, Makoun, Fonz) and bring in players that will actually play for us.

I fully support the making of a thread that isn't full of people slagging the club and you gave it 5 minutes before rubbishing an article saying money is available.

Positives for me are:
-we're making chances, we've had a lot in the last 3 games.
-Delph is looking more like the player we hoped he'd become.
-We're getting close to a clean bill of health for the squad.
-We can still win silverware this year.
-We had the worst calendar year in our history and we're only in the bottom 3 on goal difference, getting out of it isn't the huge task it could've been after what we've been through. (that's slightly negative but with a positive twist).

I'm not ignoring the bad things, they just don't belong in here.

Couldn't you have said that in the countless other threads about Lerner, Lambert or transfers?

Sorry to be defeatist and all that a mere one post in, but that article just seems to be taking Lambert's post-match comments and imagining what Lerner might be thinking on the back of it.  Anything with "it is understood" in basically means totally made up, there's no substance to the piece at all.  Lambert reiterates that they'll try to get "one or two" in, which is what he's been saying since Christmas.

I think this is negative. I'd also say that the pies aren't very good. That's another.

That is a source of hope for me as well.  If we were a number of points off safety then I think we would really be up against it, but the fact that it is so close down there means we stll can get out of this if we can make a few changes.

I think we just need a good performance to kick start our season. A performance where everybody does there jobs properly, for example defending corners like you are supposed to,keeping a defensive shape, and taking our chances. When better, than do it on saturday against Smethwick. If we can do that in a local derby and get a win, it could just spur us on for the rest of the season.

As paul e says despite our wretched run, we are not cut adfift yet! Keep the faith boys and girls, we can still stay up and get to wembley...altogether now....THE BELLS ARE RINGING....

Nobody wants to kick the club or to be negative. We all want to cheer the team on and help them through the battle in the hope that one day we can add to our illustrious history a few more bright chapters.

Some of us are just deeply concerned that there's no leadership, scant signs of fight and that we are conceding a phenomenal amount of goals and registering very few in response. It's a two way street. We are supporters of the club in thick and thin, it's life-blood. We have given them a lot of support so we are obviously going to be down when things are going as badly as they have been and the clock is ticking in terms of time to pick up the necessary points/bring in the necessary new players.

Club has to give us something to cling to if our spirits are to be raised again. Showing more fight on the pitch and spending some cash to fill the holes in our squad/midfield/defence would help allay the fears and fire us with som optimism.

Create a post entitled 'the miserable defeatists post' and I'll happily avoid it and let you moan to your hearts content, if you have nothing positive to say why post in a thread called 'The Positive Thread'?  You have hundreds of others to slate Lerner and Lambert in, just leave this one be for people who want to see some silver lining to your big grey cloud.
