Listened to lambert on talksport and he sounded as passionate and inspiring as a dirty dishcloth!
He looked clueless sitting on the bench and I'm  expecting saints to hammer us - worst villa team in my 35 years watching - and I was a season tickrt holder in 86 too.

A very nasty atmosphere up here tonight.

Appalling. Not a great deal to say. Benteke wants shooting. How many chances can you miss? And to let the Bradford player run off him for the third. Fuck me what rotten, piss poor fucking defending. Bring the lube as Ricky Lambert will rape us from set pieces.

The manager has a lot to answer for. The system was woeful. Qhere was the cover for

I don't understand why we just don't stick Benteke at the front post like MON did with Carew so majority of underhit corners were just cleared.

He lost the Wigan player for the goal we conceded from the corner so a liability at defending set pieces.

If this was Lambert's team I could point the finger but it's not his fault he's been left with this rabble. He showed at Norwich what he can build with little money and given time to build. Sadly I'm starting to think our time is running out as unless we get vlaar and dunne back soon and keep them fit until the end of the season, this defence stands no chance of keeping us up imo. Plus we desperately need 2 central midfielders who can pass.
I think I would give serious consideration to taking a draw if given it now ahead of Saturday's game. That's how desperate things have become. It's Southampton at home ffs...
It is his team though, he chose this squad, it is not good enough and a third through the transfer window and he has still not addressed the obviuos problems

Well this team is finding new and improved ways of suprising me in the way one is suprised to find a turd in one's cereal bowl.
Awful, dispirited, slovenly, tentative shite. Unacceptable.

Christmas has kicked the shit out of this team and they're not getting over it.
The confidence is shattered. Every ball that goes into our box now is like a hand grenade. There is little cohesion in what is happening from the middle in either direction.
I'm not one for drama but immediate and decisive action in the transfer market is required. If only to take some of these kids out of the firing line.

I dont believe the tie is done with by the way but fuck me we have to do things the hard way as usual.
Get to it Mr Lambert. You've been pretty much brilliant in your career so far. Remind us why.

Anyone recall the last time we won a televised match? I can't think of a single one since Darren Bent's debut against Man City 2years ago! What chance of us in the return ?

Reading at home.

From the team and formation, Gabby, Benteke, Weimann and N'Zogbia all being forward players, it's clear that Lambert wanted to finish the tie tonight. It failed but by Christ we had some chances. They scored with their first chance and then had something to latch on to.

We've rightly hammered the defence and midfield but Benteke and Bent missed absolute sitters which would have completely transformed the momentum and atmosphere.

the commentators and pundits were talking about Premier League finishing against League two finishing but Villa were poor up front. You cannot miss those chances and expect to win games.

I like Benteke but he's very, very raw still. Weimann appears to be the best finisher at the club.

Oh, balls, is there anything that is right about this bastard team?

Well, the goalkeeping section is okay. Everything ahead of that's a bit shaky though. And I say a bit shaky in the same way that the Titanic had a bit of a leak.

This isn't Lamberts team?

Jeez, it ain't far off though. As I said before, if he doesn't bring reinforcements to the spine of the side in the next three weeks then he deserves the sack.

Mate text me after the match saying, Tranmere Rovers 1994. Difference is we had a bloody good side then, not a bunch of kids and no marks, barely good enough for the Championship. A total embarrassment. Feel sorry for anyone who paid to go watch it.

Whoa! We created a load of chances before their extremely flukey first goal. Then we came out second half and missed a load of further good chances with their keeper playing out of his skin. In all honesty we should have realistically been two goals up at half time. Looked as though we could score at will. They played very well and looked anything but a League 2 side. That happens. Our defence lets us down again and again. Normal cup game with the little guy getting the breaks and the big guy getting the runaround. It's happened to bigger teams than us and we still have time to turn it around. Fear not.

I m sorry to say it, but sack him. This a League two team ffs. How have we got 8 days into the window without buying anyone? With the worst defence I ve ever seen at Villa in 30 years.

Sorry for my ignorance, but could you clarify who you are referring to as a League Two team?

2 weeks to save the club. 2 defenders and 2 midfielders in. Experience and grit a requirement. Othwerwise we are down and doomed. This is as bad as I can remember given the money at stake in the PL next season and our financial position today.
