I used to play football with a lot of police in South London. Probably about 7/8 years ago I can remember talking to one guy who had been drafted in from another borough to police a night game there. I think it might have been a West Ham or Cardiff game, and it was on the news because they had to put down a couple of police horses that had been targeted by hooligans. He was a bit rattled about the whole thing, and frankly it didn't sound like much fun. He was just a regular guy with a wife and kids, who had to go and get kitted-up to be subjected to some senseless violence on a Wednesday night.
That said, I've got a friend who is an Everton fan, who just happens to live in Bermondsey now. He went regularly when they got promoted from Division 1 a few years ago and really enjoyed the atmosphere - I think especially as someone who is cynical about the commercial circus that is the EPL. There is probably a big difference between the regular supporters, and the trouble makers who come along when there is expectation of an incident. -
I hate that I'm even thinking it, but if we get through on Tuesday, I'd chuck the stiffs in on Friday.
The Newcastle game is too important, and we seem to lose a player o injury every game. -
No LeeB it doesn't work like that. Losing is a habit just as winning. To win you have to compete to the best of your ability in every game.

It is debatable whether he is already playing the stiffs, bolstered by the return of Vlaar. I think he will have to go full strength, but it is Lambert's call.

I agree mate, but an extended run in the FA Cup might not be what we need with our paper thin squad and with a trip to Wembley on the way anyway would soften the blow. -

No worries. Our triple signings, waiting in the wings to join if we get to Wembley, will be frothing at the gash to play as soon as possible and earn a Cup Final place in the team. -

Problem with that is they would be cup tied if anybody would be stupid enough to come in for them.
