I watched the game in my club(Northfield Town F.C) and i must confess to sinking further and further in my chair as the goals flew in. There were probably only about 4 or 5 Villa fans present the vast majority of others being noses or baggies with other oddities thrown into the mix. Due to my pride or whatever you want to call it i make it clear to all in there where my loyalties lie and throughout the afternoon and post match good natured comments flew around with gay abandon, but then at 8 o'clock the whole room of 'bastards' stood up and gave a minutes applause. A few expletives were emitted from my mouth.....but all good natured. Bastards!!!!!

Just waited for confirmation that this is the Club used by my family who live over there.  Wouldn't be at all surprised if my brother was involved in this.

It's my club, and I'd never want to support anyone else. But the last 3 seasons have been an utter farce.

I'm not sure I do see any green shoots either to be honest. But they'll always be my team and it's just one of those things. I've long since resigned myself to the fact I support a pretty desperate bunch. But what can you do ?

What are trying to get at TV,yesterday was worse than anything under TSM.You keep banging on about pride, but how can you have pride in that performance?

The difference is that the players we have are capable of getting something in the next few matches. Imagine the dread of the Xmas fixture list after a drubbing like that with TSM in charge.

Which is why the question in first place was stupid.

there is nothing stupid about the question. Reading the post match thread and subsequent comments I simply asked the question as to whether people are still walking around proud of the club they support? Or are they hiding away in shame due to one result. My point being that it is one result and we have lot of accomplishments to fall back on that one result however shit can never take away. My post is as much about remembering who we are as opposed to who we were in the grand scheme of things, a split second in time yesterday.

I support a great club. Even if we drop a few divisions that doesn't change. We will have good teams and bad teams but we will always be Aston Villa, a geat club steeped in history, tradition and class.

I've just been on Soccernet and just read the ESPN football moments of the year. The main feature is about when the news b roke about Stans illness and how Stan, the Club and the fans reacted.

Forget yesterday, this article alone makes me so proud to be a Villa fan. We may not be the best anymore but when and where it matters we are all class and dignity.

that's complete bollocks. I was attemting to offer the bigger picture about who we are and not solely concentrate on one event that doesn't define us. Maybe, before even insinuating what my post is about it would be better if actually read it. The mere fact that you would remotely suggest that is everything that my creating this thread is attempting to counter. That's clearly flown over your head.
