Agreed, great interview, a shame he came to the club during a bleak period, and reading about him getting injured with the national team twice in a row shows how unlucky he probably was that it didn't turn out better for him.

Seems like a nice guy and thought he could have had a bit more of a run out at the time.

More importantly, why does the Official Site always have sound? Be it incidental music to a montage of goals or a Jack Whatshisface interview there is always some obtrusive noise when you visit the site that has you reaching for the mute button.

Was very average for most of the time he was here but thankful for that goal spree that saved us at the end of 2002/03.

Lived five minutes from me aswell.

I met after a game once. Our liaison for our supporters club asked if anyone would meet us and he said straight away apparently. He came out by the pitch and was great. Very chatty and full of beans. He's a lot shorter in real life. He stood next to me and put his arm around my shoulders so I had to crouch a bit. I stood up properly and raised his arm right up and he turned to me and said in his Swedish accent 'you are a very big boy!!'

Overall he never really did it for us but his winner against Sunderland was the difference between us being relegated and staying up.

If I remember correctly, he seemed to celebrate in front of the Holte after scoring that goal for ages. He seemed to really love scoring that one

Around a dozen of us had a trip to Amsterdam about ten years ago. Everyone got waved through customs except me, who was beckoned over to the side by a stern looking official. I was wearing a Villa top and as a Heerenveen fan he wanted to quiz me on why Marcus Allback wasn't picked regularly and tell me that he thought Allback was twice the player Henrik Larsson was.

He lived round the corner from me in Walmley.  I'd seen this red Ferrari parked outside one of the largest houses on the estate for a while and wondered who it belonged to, then one day I saw him come out of the house, walk past the Ferrari and get into a Range Rover - it's fair to say that his lack of games didn't affect his earning power!!!

He saved us an could, in another era, have been a trophy-winning hero.

That's a good read, I must admit despite doing a couple of 100% home and away seasons during his spell at the club I actually have very little memory of him.

My daughter thought he was a bit of a looker.

I have very few memories of him as a player, but I remember SGT saying when he was commentating on TV  when Allback was playing for Sweden (in either the Euros or the World Cup) that he had got  a bargain.
