Another request going out for some Villa memories please for a superb project my brother is running which uses sporting memories as an aid for people with dementia and depression. Almost collated 1,000 memories since launching the site 6 months ago and would love a few Villa ones to reach the magic figure.Damon has contributed a superb memory.http://football.sportingmemories.org/memory/983-damon-green/

Great readIndeed. It's superb, Brian. My old chap will enjoy that; McParland was and is still his all-time favourite Villa player too. I've just sent him the link.

My dad, fbriai's grand-dad, took me to my first game when I was 5 or 6. Not sure which. Anyway we beat Burnley 2-0 around '52 time. My only recollection is of being totally overawed by the crowd. I had never seen anything like it, I don't think I saw anything of the game just sat looking at the crowd.A few games that stick in my memory from those early years were a 4-4 draw with the Busby Babes, I think we came back from 4-2 down and at 4-4 a Villa goalbound shot hit Dave Hickson to stop it being a 5-4 win.The 2-1 win over the Spurs, in the early 60's, our first against them in about 25 years. My favourite was a 5-1 win over Man City, with Dennis Law playing for them, just before Christmas '61, I think. The crowd was less than 20,000, but it was pouring with rain and it was a great atmosphere with everyone crammed in under what cover was available. We were stood under the Trinity Road Stand.Did Stan Lynn not score a hat-trick against Bristol City in a 5-0 win away the week after we beat Charlton 11-1 and the following week beat Scunthorpe 5-0.
[ Invalid YouTube link ]I've submitted a memory about this game (but they may not publish it given comments made about our opposition!).Just watch that away end go mental when Daley scores. It gives me goosebumps every time. Those were the days my friend...
