The semi will be all over after one leg.   Villa 3 -0 at Bradford

According to their forums they're delighted.

Of course they are. They're playing the most illustrious club in the country. And they'll get to vsit Villa Park regardless.
It's a treat for them.

Unfortunately they are going to get smashed on the pitch but I'm sure they'll have a good day out.
No chance of Lambert taking this lightly or being complacent and we're not Arsenal going through a sticky patch and lacking confidence.

Bradford are the only thing standing between a pride of young Lions and their prey.
Poor Bradford.

Will be my first trip back to Valley Parade since 1987, blimey was that 4-2 win really 26 years ago !!

Mine too. Doesn't time fly?

That was one of my all time favourite away days because they were flying at the top of the league then and everyone thought we would get beat.  The two Gray's made their debuts though and we beat them more comfortably even than 4-2 suggests, because it was only Steve Sims playing at being a goalkeeper that gave them two pens to keep em in it.  Think our front three was Aspinall, Thompson and Rambo wasn't it?
It was indeed , I remember Bruno heading in a beauty in front of us and we climbed up the fencing to celebrate. Brilliant game .

I could understand their excitement if the draw had been a few weeks back, as we were still VILLA IN CRISIS (insert torn Villa badge here) back then.  Quite a different story now though.

We won't take anyone lightly and will have more than enough for these over two legs.

The last time I went to a Villa Bradford game, Lee Sharpe was still on their books!
Dublin scored a penalty. Think Carbone was there too.

People from the outside still view us as mediocre . The win over Liverpool is seen in very much the same way as when Wigan turn over a big club or Bolton do. We are below Swansea and Chelsea in the league so Bradford will see this as the easiest tie for them.

In some quarters, maybe, but I was pleasantly surprised by how complimentary (i.e. not particularly patronising) they were on the Guardian podcast (as discussed on another thread).

I doubt very much many in Bradford read or share the views of The Guardian to be fair.

Last time I went, Ron Futcher was strolling around on the pitch before the game in one of those 80s long leather coats and the two Grays made their debut for us and scored

Got a feeling it could well end up Villa v Swansea at Wembley which could be an absolute stonker of a game .

Funny to think we we were all there that day and now here we are 25 years later together on here! I lived in Harrogate at the time but was working in Derbyshire. Took my brother in law who is a big Derby fan though now a season ticket holder at Exeter as he lives down there. That was one of my favourite seasons following the Villa away - Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield Utd, Barnsley...

I think we should be respectful to Bradford, and fair play to them for reaching the semi.

BUT, there is no reason why we should not be bullish about this tie, and expect to beat them comfortably.

Can someone explain to me why some people on here would have preferred us to draw the champions of europe rather than a team who are in division 4, i really dont understand that logic at all.

Great draw, cautiously optimistic for a return to wembley.
