Match of the Day will not only be watched tonight, I'm recording it.  I do hope Lawro and Hansen are on.

This.

The missus is out, so peace and quiet to savour the awesomeness that is Aston Villa.

Our record at Anfield over the past ten years or so can't be too bad?

I said on the pre-match thread that I couldn't see us breaking down Liverpool and I'm delighted to say they proved me wrong big style.  As for Liverpool, I know they've been on the slide for a few years but not having watched MOTD for a very long time I wasn't aware how threadbare their side is these days.

Only Johnson (coming forward) and Suarez looked decent for them today.  Gerrard is a shadow of his former self, Downing had a great first 20 minutes and then disappeared as the going got tough.  The rest were totally anonymous.  Bringing on Joe Cole and Jordan Henderson did nothing for them and those two alone have cost them big big money in terms of salary and fee respectively.

Conversely, all of our players had good games, with the possible exception of Lichaj but even he showed a bit of mongrel and did his bit in the excellent defensive display.  Interesting that such a superb result was achieved without Bent, Ireland, N'Zogbia and Dunne.

I like this, from The Guardian:

Villa's forwards will take the plaudits for their four passes that pierced the Liverpool defence and saw the Austrian forward sweep home Benteke's exquisite back-heel across the penalty area. The credit runs much deeper, however, with Bannan, Ashley Westwood and others involved in an 18-touch move before Weimann struck.

As the goalscorer and creator celebrated in one corner, Westwood turned the other way to applaud the team-mates behind.

Love that.  Westwood seems to be a great team player.  He described himself as like Carrick and his style is similar, but he's much more vocal and a real driving force for the whole team.
This boy is going to be our future captain.

That RAWK lot are a deluded lot.  There's a few on there who have a clue what they are on about but in the main they know nothing outside what they see on TV or read in the papers.  Villa are a poor side are they? a Villa side that are now unbeaten in 6 is it?

Any way this made me laugh when referring to the Liverpool team currently.

"we're like a cow which gives 2 buckets of milk and then spills them both".

Well done Villa and very well done Mr Lambert, I'm enjoying the project.

its so exciting what Lamberts doing at Villa,
anyone that cant see it maybe ought to take up watching another sport, because they obviously dont understand anything about football

Exactly. Risso . .  ahem.

We could have the greatest manager ever and win everything and he'd still find something to whinge and moan about!

Brilliant.  Your second post in the post-match thread is moaning about another poster rather than just enjoying a great result.  I imagine you're too stupid to understand the concept of irony.

Have to say we rode our luck the 1st 20 minutes, but after that, 3 quality goals, the 2nd especially.

Few observations, for me Baker, MOM, great block on Jonjon, whatever his name is, when 0-0, and some fantastic defensive headers when under pressure.Bannan really impressed me today as well, overshadowed Westwood today, kept the ball well, but defensively very good.

CB.........the Big Fooker, if Suarez is worth £40m, how much is this guy worth.Hold on to him as long as we can, but if we keep improving as we are, and i see no reason why not with this manager, and he is building up a good relationship with Weimann.

What an odious little prick Suarez is as well, and whats happened to Stevie G?

Fabulous afternoon - great goals and defence like lions- confidence must be sky high and with the addition of a couple more quality signings in January we have the makings of a very good few months ahead , top 10 finish a Wembley final and silverware topped off by a place in Europe - good times ahead I believe!
