fans throwing objects
« on: December 11, 2012, 04:05:54 PM »
After what happened at the weekend with the manc derby started me thinking of millwall away in 1973/4 when a fan threw a lump of concrete and hit jim cumbes right above the eye cutting him pretty badly.
The following week in the home program Vic crowe fills two pages talking about how disgusting it was and how as a society we need to combat these idiots.
Nearly 40 years on and its still a problem although in terms of percentages a small one.

Dont remember people at Villa chucking coins - althought toilet rolls were often chucked on the pitch from the Holte in 1995-96 - but do remember Vinnie Jones claiming Villa fans were targeting his eyes with those laser pens during  either the 7-1 or 5-0 win over Wimbledon.

I remember a Villa fan been thrown onto the pitch at St Andrews during the Battle of the Tilton game in 1987.

I was sat with my dad in the Railway End and being only 11 and safe in a group of his mixed Villa and Blues mates I was fascinated more than scared by the mayhem that was occurring at the other end of the ground. It was early on in the game I think and this poor Villa fan was hurled onto the pitch from about midway along the Kop.

Didn't Harry Redknapp get a few pelters a while back?

I once threw a half-eaten pork pie onto the pitch in disgust at us going 0-1 down to Arsenal in the late-70's.
This pork-product based act of hooliganism had no other outcome than to leave a 17-year old quite peckish by the end of the evening.
Didn't care as we went on to win 5-1

I threw a f*cking big tantrum once when Heskey quite clearly dived to win a pen for Leicester at VP

I remember a game v Leicester at home in 1976 I think and somebody from the Holte threw a milk bottle at Mark Wallington the Leicester keeper. He was rounded up and handed to the cops and the Mail or Argus ran a story on Villa Vigilantes.

Who could forget sausages being thrown at Harry when he was managing Pompey - he kicked up a bit of a stink. Also, at Forest in the Cup QF (Franz Carr goal), Forst had a corner at the Villa end and somebody threw a portion of chips at their player, paper and all.

I threw a snowball at Steve Ogrizovic as he walked towards the away end at Highfield Road once ( it was a decent shot but he managed to defelct it with his man bag). I was chucked out and spent the rest of the game waiting outside for my mates.

Probably be jailed for it today

The best was the fan in the corner throwing all that cash at Barry. Brilliant and on TV too.

Wasn't there a scooter thrown from one tier down onto a lower one at an Italian match once?

I remember when there was a constant rain of coins thrown between the bottom roght of the Holte at the b-losers in the old Witton Lane stand one game. I could see my mate crawling round picking them all up. He now has a couple of sports shops.

There was a scooter thrown by the Inter fans when they played AC Milan and here's the video of it:-

In the league game there earlier that season, someone threw a Mars bar at Mark Crossley and he picked it up and eat it.
