Gabby, vastly underrated by many and one of the hardest working players we have who makes the team better when he's in it and on form. Lambert appears to value him too, which makes a change as his two immediate predecessors didn't use him effectively.

There are plenty of others who show promise but I have a nagging worry that if they fulfil that potential they'll be off and we'll all be trying to convince ourselves that they weren't that good anyway.

Got to be Bent. The man is a goal machine and kept us up last season. Also like Weimann.

Gabby should be the most common name, longest servant etc, but consistency, sulking on the wing and not carrying a goal threat for 3 seasons at all have seen him become a bit of a Paul Dickov like footballer with a bit more pace. Runs about a lot, is a nuisance, but not really a massive concern to the opposition until he switches it on once in a blue moon. Sad, but in the side for his work rate now, not his quality.
Was that a reference to his goals at Citeh earlier this season? ;D

The way I've been describing him this season is as a grafter and decoy: whilst he's on the pitch, oppo defences know they'll get a run-around, and I think that benefits Benteke and Weimann. Also, he does his share of tracking back.
For where we are at the moment, that's the sort of player we need, isn't it?

Bannan and Clark for me.

Both have played a fair bit in poor sides and haven't really been given the chance tto show their quality.  This season they've become an important part of the side and are both showing signs of being just as good as we hoped.

Of recent signings I think Lowton may turn out to be the best value, he looks comfortably good enough for the premier league and has all along.  Living in Norway no one here had any idea who he was or where he came from and everyone at work who's watched us thinks he looks quality.

Wee Bazza. I've loved watching him play since he was in the reserves bossing games and being the team's 'quarterback. It's really good to see PL giving him the confidence to do it in the first team. Long may it continue.

Honorable mentions for Vlaar & Benteke.

I literally feel like I'm fighting with them for every ball.

That's the key point. That's how I have felt all season (despite being pissed off with some performances). You just can't fault the enthusiasm, effort and the fact that they improve and will get better. By the end of the season i expect Brad Guzan, Ciaran Clark, Ashley Westwood, Matthew Lowton and Christian Benteke to be household names.

That said we do need a few wins. But I am confident that we will grow as a team once we notch up a few wins.

Benteke is my favourite player of the moment, but Gabby is the real favourite and always will be.

Lowton for me, he has been superb, even when moved to centre back.

If i had to pick another i'd say Baker. I just wished he'd stay fit because he looks a bloody good defender.
