Have not read the thread, so sorry if I am repeating... But can we stop hoofing the ball every freaking time we get it in the back?!?!?!? It simply invites pressure right back on us. In the preseason, it seemed that we were trying to play it on the ground, but this strategy has gone out the window with Benteke in the team. Why? Please stop it,

We don't.

Well, we must be watching different games, Legion. I can count on one hand the times Guzan played it to one of his defenders.

The teams that get relegated lose heavily against superior opposition. We have done that against Everton and Man city.
The teams that get relegated often lose a game after leading and playing well for a short spell. We did that against Man U and Southampton.
The teams that get relegated often lose games by not being able to response once they fall behind. We did that against W Ham, Spurs and Fulham and all other defeats so far.
The teams that get relegated are incapable of winning winable home games. We did that against W Brom and Norwich.

Would you bet against us?

Yes, and only players with Premier League experience will do.

That was a long-winded way of saying the teams that get relegated don't get many points.

I still think the optimists will eventually be proved right. I think we've got quite a few good players and a decent system and philosophy, but it's vital their heads don't drop.

BTW, it wasn't at all guaranteed we'd have lost today had the officials not extended their one goal lead for no apparent reason.

I honestly think we are deluding ourselves thinking it's going to happen.  We have spent most of the last two years (from the signing of Bent) making it abundantly clear we want rid of high earners and bringing through youth.

Anyone with the sort of experience to which you refer and obviously what we need will want fortunes in wages to come to a relegation threatened team, even assuming Lambert wants that type of player - the evidence of his tenure to date suggests he wouldn't.  The horse has well and truly bolted.

Signing and paying fortunes to Given, CNZ and Hutton is a funny way of getting rid of the top earners.

How do we know we haven't tried and failed to get rid of these.  See Young, Downing, Milner, Hutton (they tried their hardest), Warnock, Friedel.  Now look at Bent.

I really hope you're wrong, but the more the season goes on the more I feel you'll be proved right.

And like Bent they're out of the team and out of favour. Won't be long till they're out of the club as well.

You forgot that teams that get relegated have supposed fans who moan and boo rather than getting behind the team exuding a negative outlook.

Having a positive outlook means jacks hit when the team loses practically every week. It's called delusion.
