Alexander Mostovoi ,Celta Vigo.

His performance for Celta Vigo 1998/1999 is the best individual performance I have seen against us.

Fantastic player! One of my favourites. He absolutely destroyed Liverpool too

The one which hit the underside of the bar and went in? If so, I was on holiday at the time and just turned round and walked on to the next pub.
That  was the one Legion.

I remember the Everton fans applauding THAT goal by Tony Morley at Goodison Park on our run to being champions in 80/81. I was standing amongst them down the side and there was a murmur which broke into applause purely from them appreciating the build up and the finish. They also clapped Villa at the end of the game. Those were the days!

Anyone care to find the goal and post it on here?

I remember when Ronaldinho play for Barcelona against Real Madrid and his genius scoring three world class goals against Real Madrid and he was left with standing ovulation and clapping from Real Madrid fans and this is extremely rare event at the Bernabeu and it really rattled the Real Madrid players.

It was a great period in his career.

This needs wider recognition.
Bravo Chris, but too subtle for the masses.

Paul Ince scored a belter against us for West Ham, just after he broke through, I remember applauding that.

Yes remember that like it was yesterday, I applauded to.  Ran from just inside his own half then let fly from 30 yards.

What the hell was Mountfield thinking for their first?

They were quite regular though weren't they.  I thought his name was Mountfield O.G. for about two years.

I've applauded lots of opposition goals over the years. We're all football fans regardless of the team we support and we can all appreciate quality play. If I'd personally witnessed that Ibrahimovitch goal the other night I'd have given the guy a standing ovation, not just a polite clap. It's got to be one of the best goals I've ever seen.

This is the one that sticks in my mind. Although, at the time, I wasn't very happy.

It was one of those "Oh shit, we're going down" moments.

I seem to recall clapping the occasional opposition goal over the years. When the Villa are 4/5 up and there's a consolation goal for example. Otherwise when we've been getting tonked and I've clapped with heavy sarcasm directed at our bench (particularly during the DOL era).

Turning the question around, has anybody seen opposition supporters clapping a Villa goal?

I seem to remember this happening at Derby and Boro but I may have imagined it.

When my old man took me down the game, Holte, Left Side, near the bottom, I would quite often find him applauding an opposition goal and thought, "what a geek" and would be dying of embarrassment. Now I could see myself doing it very easily without thinking about it.
