Agree
Though Enda was great. I actually thought he was unfortunate with there 1st goal as Hernandez got the ball stuck, had that not happened he'd probably got the tackle in. He'll learn and get better.

Ashley Westwood was fantastic, I would love to see his pass completion rate for the last two games. Does he ever give the ball away??  Our new Petrov? I wonder.

Benteke? This guy is immence, and to think he'll only get better

Cant we just unite and start hating the referee? :)

With their first goal was the (dubious) free kick taken from the correct position, and was the ball moving?
I thought ManU should have been called back to take the free kick from the correct position which would have allowed us crucial time to reorganise at the back.

I know that sound trivial but in two passes they went from defence to scoring (whilst the nearest player Benteke (?) had stopped to complain about the award of the free kick).  I could not hear the commentary in the pub, and there was too much arguing on this thread so this may have been discussed.

I still have to face all the plastic mancs on monday morning.

My problem is that I am running out of games.   I just want to see us beat those arrogant bastards one more time.   When our second went in I thought that it was going to be a great day but it turned out to be the same agony as so many times in the past.

I suppose for old time's sake I should try to come up with some sort of comfort message before I go to bed but the best I can come up with is that Christian Benteke did not deserve to be on the losing side.

17 successive league matches unbeaten for them at VP i think. i just hope we get the chance to end this run in 13/14.

Is Man United's 17 match unbeaten run at our ground actually longer than our longest unbeaten run at our ground?
Cor!  That would be a stat attack, right enough.
I'm struggling to even think of one we deserved to win in that time.

By taking a game that happens once a season you could counter the manure stat with the run we had against Coventry at home.

Mixed comments on here tonight.  On the whole I thought it was a good performance and we caused them a lot of problems.  I felt the formation suited us well and we played some decent football at times.  I thought our midfield three were excellent until they ran out of steam in the second half.  My one criticism of Paul Lambert is that he maybe should have taken Ireland off earlier, for as well as he played, it was clear he was tired and had drifted out of the game.

Unfortunately we made mistakes at the back tonight (Clark for the first, Gabby for the second and Stevens losing Hernandez for the third) and good teams will punish those kind of mistakes.  For me though, there were definite positives to take from the game tonight even though we lost.  I didn't think anyone had a particularly bad game and thought Westwood did well (how we could do with someone like Anderson in there as well), Vlaar had a good game, Benteke caused all kind of problems and Stevens did OK in difficult circumstances (when everyone is fit he could probably do with a loan spell somewhere to get some games).

I firmly believe if we can produce that kind of performance on a regular basis then we should be OK this season.

No they haven't, and no one but a mod can "threaten" that anyway.

You are fully entitled to your point of view and other posters are equally entitled to disagree with it. As long as no one gets personal and insults, deliberately tries to wind someone up etc, then all is good.

I thought we were bloody brilliant. Bodes well for the future. More than matched them in the first half and what could have been if Weimann's header had gone in for his hat-trick. Fair play to ManUre. They never give up and don't know when they are beaten. The Terminator of the Premier League, I suppose.  Shame about their so-called supporters though.
Spot on the money. And against 12 men for the whole game - never a foul for the freekick that led to the first goal and Weimann getting flattened in exactly the same circumstances that led to Bennett getting sent off didn't even get a freekick and don't get me started on that cheating little ginger git...

tomd2103, I tend to agree re Ireland, he was tired and had run his nuts off to be fair. My small gripe of the manager is taking Bannan off when they had the dangerous free kick position prior to the third goal. Was always brought up not to make changes in such positions, even if it is a 4 foot 9 midget being replaced lol. From other side of ground, I thought it was Clark had lost his man for third goal, but you are probably right.
