Just returned to Harrogate.
I was delighted with much of today's game. Westwood was excellent, BB played with lots of discipline and Ireland had his best game for us, I think.
The back four were doing fine but both fullbacks showed their inexperience, particularly Lowton for their second goal.
The front three were magnificent although I think Gabby could have worked Rafael harder in the second half.

The Lambert project is showing some signs of real progress.

Stephens did well for me and is a much better defender than Bennett, I say keep him in.
Ireland just cannot finish a game, he isn't fit enough, can we not get him fit ?
Benteke was good, Weimann ok, but for me Westwood is not up to it, neither is Bannan.
For all our plucky losers shit, we are in for a struggle, no team should lose a 2-0 lead.
Fucking still hurts after two bottles of wine.
I hate those plastic manc bastards.
That is all.

I not convinced half the posters here were at the game tonite ........

If we had been told we would lose 3-2 before the game we would have taken that end of ....

The team played their socks off tonite and its unfair to single any one player out for either praise or criticism

Lets be honest Utd are in a different league to use at the moment but we came close to pulling off a shock tonite

All positives from those who were at the game - those stay at home moaners watch the team at VP before slagging them off

Good effort tonite and there is some progress !

I wasn't at the game and haven't slagged them off. Please don't go down the "better fan than yow" road as it will only end in tears.

Not seen his name mentioned yet but credit where credit is due, what about Enda Stevens, thought he had a good game tonight and considering the number of games he has played for us looked very promising.

Exactly my thoughts.

I thought he was exceptional since he also had a lot of work to do especially in the first half when Scholes was picking out Valencia on the right wing with pretty much every pass he made.

The way we set up today and the performance from Benteke, says to me we've seen the last of Bent.

Agreed, wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play for us again.

That's the trouble with Villa, if we would have taken a 3-2 defeat before the game that shows why we are where we are.
I haven't missed a home game for 40 years, by the way and i have seen this all before.
There are positives but I'm worried for our safety this season we just don't have enough nous in our team.

That was brilliant for 60 minutes or so. By taking it to them we really gave them a game.
So why the fuck did our manager decide that he had had enough and take off our main threats?.
I'm sorry but it has to be said, KEA and Delph are shit. They offer nothing. And to play them together is just telling the opposisitionnthat you have no intention of trying to go forward and attack. I really can't stand this fucking ultra safe shit. We had enough last year.

Benteke, you my son will be a legend, if you really want it you can truly be great.
This is the only negative comment I can make as I was also not happy to see Ireland come off or Weimann, Bannan maybe as he did seem to tire but he had run his socks off.Delph Holmann and Ahmadi are our 'B' list midfield I think. The bench quality differential did for us the catch 22 is keeping your best players(Benteke must already be alerting the top clubs) which is even harder if you are not in the 'Champions' league.

Delph is truly shit.

KEA is starting to worry me an awful lot.

Threw away a game that was won.   However you hedge it about or dress it up or look for positives we lost.   We let slip three points and I shall be very surprised indeed come the end of the season if we are many more than three points above the drop zone   Lambert is playing a dangerous game.   He wants to play positive, passing attractive football but such a style, while pleasing on the eye and attractive to the pundits does not put points in the bank.

We do not have the ability to lock down a game and for me it keeps coming back to mental strength.   We do not have anybody at the back  to summon up the blood and stiffen the sinew of the rookie players.   The substitutions did nothing to shore up the defence or the midfield.

The long journey home has not eased the pain of a very significant defeat.
