Just in case anyone missed it and fancies dishing out personal insults or snide comments.

I will not ask again for there to be no insults. It will be a straight ban. Hopefully that is plain enough for no one to be in any doubt about it.

I think that the point is  that we seem happy to accept defeat to them on the basis that we had a go. Some of the comments epitomise what is wrong with Aston Villa, happy to accept defeat.

Except no one has said that. However if Villa are to lose a game I prefer it if we give it our all rather than just roll over. I'll take a performance like today over a 7-1 drubbing at Chelsea any time.
The thing is I was there and at some point you just become numb, where as today you have this massive hope thing and then feel like a Christmas Turkey, plucked, dressed and gutted

I was there 2 years ago and for the cup match. And another game in the 90s (can't remember the year, think it was 1-1) where we battered them and they equalised at the death. I fecking hate it, but i'm not going to let that cloud a performance by a Villa side that was so inexperienced that I would image when compared against their starting 11 most people would have expected us to be mullered. I for one fully expected us to be twatted today and posted so in the match thread.

Not seen his name mentioned yet but credit where credit is due, what about Enda Stevens, thought he had a good game tonight and considering the number of games he has played for us looked very promising.

He tried hard but he's never going to be Premier League quality.

After that performance we really deserve something from our tough run.

He had his first start against the top team in the league, and from what I saw, made one critical mistake - i.e. being late coming out for Hernandez first goal and not catching him offfside.. From that display I saw nothing to say he's going to be a top defender, but equally nothing to say he wasn't going to make it.

In fairness it was his first league start. He did okay in the first half I thought but when they upped it at 2-0 his inexperience showed. A lot better and more experienced players than him will struggle with that manure front line.

That said, i'm not really expecting him to be star.

Manure have come from behind five times to win a game this season, if people are seriously calling our lads performance poor on this one then they have no idea about football. If it'd been any other team than them, we would've won.

Do you think it's just luck or coincidence that they're so good coming back from behind? Fergie has honed that to its own artform and has managed to get their players believe in that so well that they push the necessary goals on just willpower.

Last season we gave utd far too much respect and although only 0-1 our performance was embarrassing - today was totally the opposite , we attacked and they attacked, there were chances at both ends and it must have been a great game for the neutral.

I confess at 2-0 I had that nagging fear after what's happened in the past and sadly united did it again against us.
We are a work in progress and the midfield and forward players are starting to gel nicely, Vlaar and Lowton look good signings as do Westwood and benteke, not totally convinced by kea yet though.

While gutted with the result, I can't help but compare this game with the two games last season.  We were never in either game last year and we played terribly in each.   This year, we lost a 2-0 lead but we played really well against a the current league leaders.  On a different day, RVP nets at least one of the shots that hit the crossbar.  Today's side was young, positive, vibrant, and full of promise.  I believe that next year the score might be reversed.

I look forward to the rest of the season.
