Just back - haven't read the thread so apologies if already said.  I predicted a pasting. I was wrong. Benteke was awesome but the whole team put in a shift today and that performance bodes very well for the future. Felt gutted to lose a 2-0 lead and if Wemann's header had gone in it would have been different, but they hit the bar a couple of times and (I think) a post so on balance can't complain too much.

One other thing - those scummy Mancs are surely the worst supporters we've had at VP - no applause for Petrov, no applause for the paralympians and no applause for the military band at half time.  Hopefully the ones who were ejected from the Upper Holte got a good kicking on the way out.

However losing a two goal lead  and ending up losing the game is not something to be proud of.
Has anyone said that we should be proud of losing the match?
Yes several posts  stating words to the effect  "proud of the performance"
Hate to break it to you, but being proud of a performance isn't the same as being proud of a result.
Whatever.

I am proud of the performance and steaming that we lost.

Our piggin' defending has cost us again. Now I am back and have seen the first two goals again; when will get luck like that? The weasel treads on the ball for the first and puts the second a mile wide until it hits Vlaar.

Based on that performance, we'll win more than we lose.

??????

Ok, we played ok first half, 30% possession at home is good I suppose but that capitulation does not suggest that we will go on to win more games than we will lose this season.  Benteke was good today, as was Clark imo but I think your statement is way off.

They absolutely battered us and it could have been 5 or 6.  God how our hopes and expectations have fallen if people think that was good.  There were some positive signs granted but they were by far the better side.

er battered us. NO they did not batter us

64% possesion to our 36% (As the away team)

16 shots to our 10

Hit the bar twice

Won the game 3-2

I would say they that absolutely dominated us, especially in the second half.  Still, believe what you will.

Edit: Perhaps we are talking about two different games?  Cos the one I watched saw Man United come at us in wave after wave of attcak until they scored enough goals to win the game.
I'm sure you were delighted when they got the winner.

2-0 up

v man utd

what happens?

what is there to be "PROUD" about?

There was quite a few things to be proud of, great performances from various youngsters against one of the best sides in world football yeah we collapsed and it was sickening but I will take positives.

how many times has that happened?

I think that the point is  that we seem happy to accept defeat to them on the basis that we had a go. Some of the comments epitomise what is wrong with Aston Villa, happy to accept defeat.

What the fuck??

Tosser.

In fact I was in a bar in the centre of Prague in my Villa top getting abuse from loads of plastic Man U fans, I don't need to get any from you.

Too a young team managed by Paul Lambert? Once I think!

I think anyone expecting such a young and inexperienced team to dominate for 90 minutes against Man U is expecting too much, particularly when we were looking press to hard and counter.

We had a mad five minutes when they got very lucky but even then we had another glorious chance and continued to get into their box into injury time.

It's gutting to lose like that - especially to them - but some on here seem to think we were a shower of shit out there today.  And that ain't right.

They didn't dominate us at all. I think you're way off the mark.

Except no one has said that. However if Villa are to lose a game I prefer it if we give it our all rather than just roll over. I'll take a performance like today over a 7-1 drubbing at Chelsea any time.

Just got home, I think it's all been said, this is like a bad recurring nightmare. Anyone know a good psychologist, I need some therapy.

I honestly dont see how you can say that.  Honestly.  At 2-0 to us it was SOOOO predictable what would happen and as soon as they got the first there was only one team in it (bar Weimanns header).
