if i was being picky i would maybe say we defended a bit too deep 2nd half & allowed them to pick a pass, but still thought the lads did us proud tonight! Can't  fault the effort & got to say i feel proud of every one of them.

That felt strangely similar to when we played them under Houllier. Similar goals too.

The difference is Houllier was in the process of destroying a team, Lambert is in the process of building one

bit unfair to say that Houllier had deals for Ba and Cabaye and was going to get rid of all the jokers!

Well he should have waited until he had the deals fixed before antagonising all the jokers who did ok before he arrived. Oh and do you remember Houllier's wankfest over them when they beat us at OT. Another gaffe.

Glad to see the Villa boys perform and have a go against the giants - it took a genuine World Class player to beat us. We need to make sure we build on this and not rest on the performance

It's just so fucking predictable.

Has any side ever lost to another side after being 2-0 up as often as we have against those ******?

Well, as usual they filled their season review DVD with drama at VIlla Park.  It's beyond funny now though isn't it?  Always the shitting same.  We played well and I am proud of the display from such an inexperienced team.  But at some point, we've got to become more than plucky losers against that bunch of glory hunting tossers.

I hate those flukey c*ntbuckets.

Other than that, I can't really fault anyone in our starting 11.  They did not deserve to lose that.

It's not fluke though, they wanted to win more. They needed goals so they pushed forward. We only played on the offensive at 3-2. Before then we were counter attacking.

Don't get me wrong, we played pretty well I guess. We lead 2-0. But who cares if you still end up losing? We have lost far too many leads over the years that I (A) find it hard to sympathise for the team and (B) don't think anything will change because it ALWAYS happens.

Don't be so fucking stupid. It's almost an entirely different team. It " ALWAYS happens" because its Man Utd and they do it to most teams. If we'd played shit & lost I could understand criticism but we didn't. It was an exciting display - what we were all begging for last year - and undone by a mixture of individual mistakes and their good players.

With that performance against even slightly less skilful opposition, we'll be absolutely fine.

Spurs probably. And we've only lost twice to them after being 2 up that I can remember.

A word on Ireland, he isn't fit enough to play 90 minutes and hasn't been since he's been a Villa.  Why?

I can take no comfort from this, we are 2-0 up at home with 11 men on the pitch.

You should not lose to any one from there.

Based on that performance, we'll win more than we lose.

??????

Ok, we played ok first half, 30% possession at home is good I suppose but that capitulation does not suggest that we will go on to win more games than we will lose this season.  Benteke was good today, as was Clark imo but I think your statement is way off.

They absolutely battered us and it could have been 5 or 6.  God how our hopes and expectations have fallen if people think that was good.  There were some positive signs granted but they were by far the better side.

I wanted the three points, of course, but I felt how we approached the match was more important. Unfortunately I didn't expect us to be so effective with a team like that and inevitably feel terribly short-changed.
