Completely gutted but lot of good to take from that. If we'd been against any other team we'd win - Manure fucktards are masters of coming from behind. We can be proud on how the lads played.

Gutted to know that either Man.Utd or Man.City will buy Benteke of us for £30 million in 4 years
I hope there's no release clause in his contract.  Either that or it's mahoosive.

The difference is the quantity of quality at disposal to each team. We have some, they have loads. Momentum and tenacity gets you so far but we played at our 5th gear for 60 minutes. Difference is they moved to levels that we don't have and their bench is just so much deeper, stronger and experienced. We'll continue to develop, they are close to the finished article. Lots of positives even in defeat.

Gave it our best shot and nearly matched one of Europeans top clubs- we deserved a draw but should take great confidence from this display- a brave performance from a young side still learning- onwards and upwards!

We've been here before. What is it about Villa Park that sees Fergie get points season-in, season-out?

Well they were the better side so can't moan too much. Could have been 3-5

That felt strangely similar to when we played them under Houllier. Similar goals too.

The difference is Houllier was in the process of destroying a team, Lambert is in the process of building one

bit unfair to say that Houllier had deals for Ba and Cabaye and was going to get rid of all the jokers!

I hate those flukey c*ntbuckets.

Other than that, I can't really fault anyone in our starting 11.  They did not deserve to lose that.

It's not fluke though, they wanted to win more. They needed goals so they pushed forward. We only played on the offensive at 3-2. Before then we were counter attacking.

Don't get me wrong, we played pretty well I guess. We lead 2-0. But who cares if you still end up losing? We have lost far too many leads over the years that I (A) find it hard to sympathise for the team and (B) don't think anything will change because it ALWAYS happens.

Would you prefer a repeat of the 1-0 defeat last season were Manure didn't even have to leave first gear to stroll to victory? And if always happens, how do we manage to win sometimes?

I guess the positive is, only a title chasing side would've beaten us playing like that.  We need to stay positive, we're not far from being a very good side, we just came up against a side who are consistently among the best in europe (at least for the last 20 odd years) who don't know when they've been beaten.

Pretty standard fare when it comes to Manure to be honest. God knows why their fans always act like it's a surprise. It's like some shite movie you've seen a thousand times before. At least it wasn't like times in the past when we've just panicked like a bunch of headless chickens. It was all down to the fact that we can't defend but we knew that already. I've seen enough to know we won't go down. We'll have our day against those twats and I'll make damn sure I milk it for all it's worth.

Play like that every week and i would be very happy.

Benteke played very well, Gabbys pace was a constant threat, as was Weimanns movement. The midfield 3 of Bannan, Westwood and Ireland looked very promising. We played against a better Ure team than i thought rednose would pick, and quite honestly didn't deserve to lose.

Much as i hate their supporters, i do admire their team, we matched them with kids, and thats very encouraging.Kept the ball very well today, and we have a bargain in Benteke.

Disappointing yes, but that is how well we played. Defeat by one goal is a disappointment, we should have had something out of the game.

If we did anything wrong, the changes to midfield could have come earlier. We were always going to concede space and possession with Ireland and Bannan in there.

Big up to Weimann and Benteke, the whole team should be applauded.

Not impressed with ref getting straight into Guzan's face over timewasting before he'd barely had chance to indulge.

Jammy set of ref manipulators, but nothing new there.

Proud of the team. Boring Villa my arse.

Proud of the lads, but would have loved to steal a point (to say nothing of all three).

Why does it have to be one or the other?

My point is I'm not gonna be in the "ah well I'm proud of the lads despite the result blah blah blah" camp because I've seen that too many times. I'm sick of it. I follow football cause I wanna fucking win at least from time to time, not lose in the same fashion consistently.

It isn't just Man U is it? Let's be honest. I read we'd be 5th in the league if we held on to the leads we've had this season.

Not. Good. Enough.

Annoying thing is, we'd have beaten any other team in the league today with that performance, but up against a bogey side...I expected nothing, was very, very happy with the way we went about the game and felt we justified something out of it. Man Yoo are a bunch of arses but you'd need to be six up on them with five minutes left if you're Villa at home.
