You'll all be pleased to know that I did my little bit for that victory by not watching the game. Every game I've watched so far this season Villa have been awful, so I decided to try something different.

I wonder who gets dropped for KEA against Man U? Tough call. Westwood was excellent, but Bannan does un-Villa like things like get it, give it back and move off the ball. The 4231 looks a decent shape for us, to me. Can't see Bent playing in that formation though.

Clark was very good today. He's toughened up a lot since the Everton game I think

I don't think so, I think his issue was covering for Delph.

We created many more clear cut chances and should have buried them, I thought Ireland came back really well and had a good second half as well. However as said already Westwood was superb and should be starting a lot now. Benteke is an absolute monster, and Vlaar put in a captain's performance. So good to have that winning feeling.

Actually I feel kinda bad for Sunderland fans, some decent lads there. But over the bloody moon. We really needed that!

PL pulled a masterstroke by telling Ireland to push up alongside Benteke second half. When they were closer together they caused Sunderland a lot of problems, wheras in the first half Benteke was doing it all by himself. Very happy tonight.

What I loved, apart from the 3 points was how our midfield picked up the ball when headed out by the defence. The calmness, quick one-twos, the driving forward, the movement of turning defence into attack was at times a joy to watch.

Every Villa player deserves great credit for the effort today, not to mention for reminding us they are a talented bunch who can with a little bit more confidence get better and better. Special mention to both sets of fans, though both really played their part in an exciting game.

Sleep well Davey and MackemDawg. Look on the bright side, O'Neill won't be there for ever and Sunderland deserve better.

It was great to see the players celebrating after the game, they've been under a lot of pressure. I thought we were great for the last 20 minutes. We didn't sit back until we were too knackered to do anything else.

We've been bloody unlucky with our injuries though, would really help if we could play a settled defence during a game, let alone from week to week.

No one will expect us to get anything from the next few games but who knows what might happen with a bit of confidence...anythings a bonus really.

Great and much-needed result. I know they're a poor team but I thought we were excellent all over the pitch.

Sunderland's attacking was very predictable, but still tough to defend against, your centre-halves need to be strong and ours were, which bodes well.

Chuffed with Westwood. Was a bit worried that PL hadn't picked him with all the chopping and changing but he came through with flying colours.

I'm a big fan of Bazza so it's nice to see him getting some praise.

Benteke did well and my main man got the winner. The front two got on the ball a lot today, deep, with their back to goal, and in wide areas. Bent would have been nowhere to be seen in any of those situations. Probably would have been where Gabby was for the goal but that's it.

Well done Villa, PL and the travelling fans.

Never stop watching myself, but the wife went back to Thailand on Wednesday, she is not allowed back now till May, might have to cancel going back for Christmas now. Oh well
