Ireland 15 pass attempts, 12 successful. Why does it always seem more are misplaced when you're watching?

people seem to be omitting the fact that irelands clipped through ball in a 1-2 with benteke gave us our best opportunity to score.

I'm not omitting that at all. As I and others have said, his ability to do such things is undoubted. It's his ability to do them often or effectively that's in question. To take an easy shot, compare him with Hoolihan's performance against us last weekend.

Holman for Ireland must be a temptation. I think Ireland has been poor

Wow. We've not scored a second half league goal away from home since January. That's incredible!!

The ones he misplaced coulda been key, it's just a bit frustrating.

I was surprised as well when they just showed the stats of him and Larsson.

It's not that so much as the fact that someone with such ability has so little influence on games.

Well he's not been giving the ball away, but he's not been giving them many problems either, and his tackling looks a worry.

I think it's the promising situations he's been when he's given it away that have frustrated particularly today.

Ireland's far more likely to come up with a killer pass than Holman though.  Holman will just mean playing for a 0-0.

It's not that so much as the fact that someone with such ability has so little influence on games.

It is misleading. He gets dispossessed a lot more than he gives it away, usually in threatening positions that have you shaking your head.

Benteke, Lowton, Westwood have all been good though.

I think with Ireland it's partly the lack of quality around him. There was a time in the first half where gabby should have made a decisive run and just did neither one option nor t'other
