Pat I think Dave meant Andys second goal over the two legs. Watching it for the seventh time today wasnt Brian Kidds goal in the VP leg bloody superb.[/quoteIn which case it is a different error - Andy Lochead's goal was at the Holte !I really hadn't seen how good Brian Kidd's goal was either. I just remember his goal and the tears of fear welling up in my eyes as it was pretty early, maybe 14 mins?
Why was Andy Lochead's header in the first leg disallowed?
Dad tried to get tickets for the home leg and queued outside VP but no luck. I was only a nipper so probably wouldnt have appreciated it anyway but would have been nice to say I as there. My equivalent would probably be the 5-1 v Liverpool.Does anybody know the Villa teams for those games?Like the bit where Chico left Best for dead in the first game. How good a target man was Andy Lochead.Did Bobby Charlton miss the first game?Brian Kidd looked a good player.
As an aside, anyone remember Andy coming back to Villa park as manager of Oldham in the season we were promoted from div 2 ?As he walked to the dug out the ground rose to salute him "Andy, Andy Lochead in the air" he waved back and said after he had "tears in his eyes"Poor Bugger we whacked them 5-0, I think he got sacked at the end of the season. One of my all time favourites.

I have a match day programme from the end of that season in which Doug Ellis highlighted the crowd's ovation to Andy Lochead as the epitome of the spirit of Aston Villa.
Saw an interview on Sky where Ron 'Chopper' Harris said Lochead was the hardest player he'd ever played against.
