I think Lambert is trying to give Benteke maximum amount of time to gain some decent form.  Another goal tonight and his scoring record for the season will be very impressive (but sadly not all of them were for us).

Benteke has cost us a few times this season already, he is nowhere near Prem class imo.

I disagree with that most strongly.
I'm with you there Karl!
Anyway there are plenty of other threads to debate that, this is a match thread so, c'mon boys!!!!!

Yes that's nonsense, however I'm seriously concerned with Lambert's treatment of Bent it is ridiculous. We are not winning games and he gets goals, he's barely played and he's our top goalscorer. He should be playing and if Lambert wants to play a two then it should be Bent with Benteke.

Which bit?  The bit about him costing us?  Sitters missed against Spurs at 0-0 and Fulham when we were a goal down could have made a big difference. I don't think he is the answer.  I will say though that he does link the play better than Bent, but a top finisher he aint.  Thats just my opinion.

I think something happened behind the scenes. Lambert wouldn't have chosen Bent as his first villa captain unless he had serious plans of keeping him as an integral first team member.

A matter of weeks later he's like our third or fourth striker. Such behaviour wouldn't reflect well on the manager's judgement, that's why I think there's something else at play.

Bent bleating to the papers probably hasn't helped the relationship.

Not defending corners has certainly cost us.

Have you all clocked that we are the commentary game on BBC Radio 5live? The Beeb are obviously hoping to give air time to that cock Di Canio after a giantkilling.

Indeed and his goal at the weekend got us a point we didn't really deserve.

Maybe its because for the last two games he has delivered absolutley fuck all and I mean really fuck all.  We are not creating chances while he is on the pitch because our game is based around work rate.  We are making chances when benteke is on the pitch because he is helping to make that happen.  If we ere playing a two up then yes I would like to see them both together, but this isn;t a 4-4-2 tonight it's a 4-3-3 and playing Bent as a wide forward is a complete waste of time.  You could also argue that he is seeing e=what a different formation and line up can deliver in an easier environment than the PL.

But we need Prem quality NOW, not in the future.  Maybe he and others will become top players but we are not in a position to wait to find out.  I think we should play Bent and find a way to get the ball to him cos he is our best striker by a mile.
