Oh and thank the lord that Albrighton and Delph are not in the team.

Amen. Though why is Bent not playing? Bizarre!

Gabby and Weimann as wide forwards in a 4-3-3? Sounds good.

It seems that Bent truly is surplus to requirements as there's no system we now play that would possibly suit his style. Why Lambert chose him as his first captain as the villa manager I will never know. Lambert must have known very little about Bent before he was appointed.

Fuck me, Bent still can't get in

Possibly resting him for his return to Sunderland on Saturday?

While we're playing so badly you can pick endless holes in the team selection. There's a method behind it all I'm sure, it just needs to work at some point.

I think Bent is going, not a good move in my book, goalscorers are as rare as rocking horse shit. Hope it all works out.

Nev, I can't see any method in anything he does - I hope I'm wrong but I have serious, serious doubts about him

Its would be heart breaking to see Bent scoring his normal 20ish goals next season for someone else.

I still have the utmost faith in Lambert, but the thing that frustrates me is his apparent stubbornness to stick to 4-4-2. Out midfield simply isn't good enough to not put 5 in there.

I hope so - a front three like that is what I've been touting for a while; hope it delivers. hoever, against an agressive lower-league team I'm not sure the MF three will be able to hold their line.

I disagree, this is a 4 3 3 I'm sure.
As for Benr, I don't think he deserves a start at the moment.  Shay is now our second string and cup keeper, like Guzan was last year.  Brad will be back on Saturday even if Given has a blinder.

His treatment of Bent is really worrying me. It's not like were getting results without him, we're absolutely shit. Lambert is in danger of making himself look a pig headed fool, if he hasn't done so already
