it is a shame that the camera cut away before seeing the set to between Evans and Foster, great footage though, some real short shorts there

Nice clip but it wasn't the Milk Cup match, more a league game.

Didn't a group of Chelsea fans try and 'take the Holte' shortly before the end of the game when the gates were opened?

I could not open this link but remember the game pretty well, as even though we won 4-2 Chelsea never gave up. They had a very similar Le Coq Sportif kit to us too.

They had a few of their Danny Dyers in the Trinity lower and moved towards the Holte when we scored of our goals but never came in the Holte (not on the left side anyway)

I love seeing the clips from that era as there went any end of season videos to buy or I wasn't old enough to appreciate it at the time, especially as we didn't have a video. Sadly there is always a tinge of regret that our 1982 team was disbanded and doug went for Turner but still always nice to see us beat Chelsea.

I was at this game, early in the 84/85 season coming just after Nott'm Forest had beat us 5-0 at Villa Park in midweek.  It was Chelea's first season back in the he top flight for about 5 years, and basically a fair number of their fans were sat in the lower Trinity next to the Holte End, and when Villa took the lead early on some of them tried to climb over the barrier to get into the Holte but were quickly stopped by the coppers, it wasn't any more than that.

I couldnt open the link, but if its the 4-2 game, as others have said it was a league game early sept, following the 5-0 midweek loss to forest.
The chelsea fans did try and get in both sides just before the end, not the best idea for them tbh :-)

My apologies for mislabelling this thread.

I can't open the link now either but I'm sure the ITN source website said this was a league cup game and since this game was before my time I took their word for it.

Thinking about it though, why would a league cup game at Villa park be palyed during the day time?

I really hope we beat Chelsea at VP this season.
