What an enjoyable season despite the fickle one.

I can't think of this season without thinking of that last minute equaliser and them celebrating it like they'd won the league. How the bloody hell did we throw that game away?

Solano, Crouch and even Samuel were all playing well, good to see again.

Still pisses me off that we finished 6th and missed out on Europe. Oh...and the Scum scoring that equaliser!

don't worry, that was one of a handful of their highlights of their existence.

I think this season could be a bit like that one tbh. We were bottom 3 IIRC at xmas.

Abiding memory of that season was somehow losing 5-2 at Bolton in the Carling cup semi and predictably failing just short at Villa Park.

Given Boro were in the final that year, that was probably our best chance of winning a trophy in the last 16 years.

I'm sure the following season when we played that lot they interviewed a nose on MOTD 2 outside the ground and he said

'When he scored that equaliser it was like, well, winning the world cup or something!'

They really are pathetic.

Small Heath's only purpose in life is to be a pain in our backsides. Even after winning the League Cup, rather then celebrate their success like normal teams, straight away their first thought was to pester us about how they did what we couldn't the year before and how they are the most successful team in the Midlands this century (when the century was just 11% gone). Twunts!

Agreed. That semi first leg was unbelievable particularly as we'd pulled it back to 3-2. If you look at the winners since then I think it shows the Champs League teams have taken it more seriously, or their reserve teams are getting better, whatever it seems to be harder to win. Yes I know that lot won it but Arsenal reached the final and but for a comical/tragic howler would have won it.

Hard to believe we were so good under DO'L that year. In fairness we had good players and had underachieved the previous season.

Thanks for posting this, I've just finished watching the whole video.

Angel really was a quality player. Jlloyd looked decent too which surprised me considering all the abuse he used to get, or maybe that started after this season.

I'd forgotten how close we were not only to uefa cup qualifacation but also the mythical 4th spot, only 4 points off!
