"Rangers chief executive Charles Green insists his fallen Scottish giants will be involved during the inevitable transition to a European super league."

"And, once there, he insists they will be welcomed at the top table of European football, the landscape of which will be radically altered by the demands of top clubs".

Rangers and Celtic hinted last season about joining the Premiership in England and the notions were soundly kicked into touch by the Premier League Boss Scudmore. Green somehow doesnt notice that Rangers are in the 4th tier of Scottish football at the moment. If they were somehow admitted to this European Super League they would be welcomed as the fodder.

"The club unveiled plans for admission to the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange on Thursday in the hope of raising up to £20million. Green anticipates the exploitation of untapped revenue streams such as merchandising will help elevate Rangers back into the Scottish Premier League".

Pity they didnt think of this legitimate avenue instead of defrauding the HMRC of £20 million pounds plus through a tax scam erroneously described as 'Employee Benefit Trusts'. I think there is a company out there that would be a suitable shirt sponsors. Theyre called K-A-R-M-A.

"There will be a European league because big teams can't keep subsidising small teams like Southampton for the next 10 years because they will go stale"

By 'subsidising' I assume you mean purchasing starlets like former Saints Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale that came through their academy.

"Arsenal don't want to play Southampton or Swansea, but ask them if they want to play Celtic or Rangers"

I agree because its probably far easier for their League Cup XI to beat a Celtic or Rangers side than the Saints or Swans.

"If there are two divisions of 18 clubs, how could Rangers not be a part of that?

Oh thats easy Green - your in the 4th division of the Scottish league.

"I'm convinced it will happen because otherwise where will the revenues for the top come from"

Where they come from already - Champions League and Sky Tv money, hellooooooo.

"These days Arsenal are struggling to sell out their game against West Ham".

On planet England there is a recession that has had more double dips than a rollercoaster at Alton Towers. The Arse's tickets prices are amongst the highest in the country, indeed the first club to top £100 for a ticket.

"How can Manchester United's revenues be £320million and Aston Villa, who are completely useless, get £250?"

Let me break this down for you nice and slow Green. Sky paid £1.3 BILLION for the rights of premiership football. The competitive nature, the fact club vs club fixtures are played twice a season, the high quality of the teams (7 of the last 8 Champions League finals have been contested with an English club) and the attraction of some of the worlds best players means in comparison the English league has global coverage and the Scottish league a small haggis factory in Inverness watching.

"What Manchester United put into world football is massive, but what they take out of it is a joke and they won't put up with that for much longer."

No, especially with their leveraged buyout, perpetual re-financing of the debt laid onto the club on an annual basis and huge interest amounts repayable.

"And Aston Villa who are completely useless"

Useless as being in the top flight and not in the 4th tier of the league?

"Green revealed the club will be undertaking an institutional investor roadshow, claiming that to date there has been "strong interest"

I'd imagine HMRC is strongly showing interest too.

"Green accepted that football has endured a chequered past concerning flotations on the stock exchange, but is confident Rangers will be a success"

Given that Manchester United (the world's most profitable club) struggled on the stock exchanges recently, Im sure blue chip investors are clambering over each other to get in on this particular action of Rangers shares.

Before this thread descends into the inevitable Celtic/Rangers nonsense that comes around every other week I'd just like to say I don't give two fucks about either of them.
Rangers are not Villa and like all clubs that aren't Villa, they can fuck off.

Two quiet, but slightly sweary, voices of sanity.

Yep two sides of the same coin the bigot brothers.
The only football rivalry in Europe (maybe even the world?) based on purely sectarian lines.
Bosnians might disagree with you on that one.
I meant club football. But thinking of it, there probably is something similar in Bosnian club football (maybe Serbian too?) you would think.

Think Dave and King William should start a new dynasty for Royal Aston Villa and anyone slag off Villa ie Robbie Savage, Charles Green will be send to the Tower of London for treason and we will see them beheaded :)

You'd think King William being a Villa fan would endear us to Rangers.

I am no major fan of Celtic either but do believe they had players more representative of the community for several decades beforehand.

Just a few lesser lights like Jock Stein, Kenny Dalglish, Danny McGrain etc.

Not purely on sectarian lines. There are many Protestant Celtic fans. Alex Ferguson springs to mind.

Lots of people support oppressed minority causes without being part of that minority. But granted, you don't tend to find people from oppressed minorities supporting their oppressors.

See, as a Protestant I can support Celtic because they don't hate Protestants and I don't hate Catholics. But I couldn't support Rangers because I don't hate Catholics.

Most of the Christians in Russia are Orthadox. State church if I am not mistaken. More likely the sectarianism there would similar to Bosnia/Serbia where it is between Christians and Muslims of different ethnic groups.

Oh yes. The other thing that fucks me off is those who quote religion as a reason for having an interest in either of them, but wouldn't know the way to the nearest church of their supposed faith.

I am still a Rangers fan it is Green that made the comment

You cannot be a fan of more than one team.
You can have other teams you "support" or "follow" but you can only be a fan of one.
Fan is short for fanatic, which is a term implying utter devotion and loyalty to a cause.

Make your choice. Are you a fan of Villa or Rangers ?
Sorry but I am a Rangers FAN but I am also Villa supporter.
Season ticket holder for over thirty years.
I can not be a Rangers supporter has I did not but money trough the turnstile so I have to be a fan.
I am a fan of lots of things like Dr who but I am not fanatic.

Just because I haven't seen Dr.Who since the days of William Hartnell does not make you a better Dr.Who fan than me.

I have a friend (Catholic) who suppors Rangers (unique ?) I never noticed this ,but my Father in Law who's late Dad supported Celtic-but he supports Hibernian pointed out that when when Man u played Celtic Ferginson wore an orange tie.

Has anybody heard of a French rock band called Aston Villa?

Is Prince William a Villa fan? Who else is a 'celebrity' Villa fan? There's that bloke off ITV news & Tom Hanks that I can think of.
