Villa are not going to be in our current position for ever.

It only feels like it when you read the post match thread!

Yes, totally.  It goes in cycles.  It's easy to forget when listening to the oooohhhhh whhhhheeeennnnnn thoooooooosssseee Sppppuuuurrrrssss etc etc.  I think a defeat to Spuds and Everton annoys more than most other teams.

Even when they're shit they have so much media representation that they never get called out either. Look at the pelters Villa have taken over the last 2 seasons, some would say quite rightly, yet you would never see the same level of derision/apathy from all sections of the media against Spurs when they were shit/boring.

Don't get it. A number of fans are upbeat about our most recent defeat on the basis that we played with much more spirit and endeavour than we did last season. But we still lost 2-0 so what does that tell us?

Doh, should have thought it through.

But it also possibly means that our team is weaker this year.

We played Swansea at home last season and lost 2-0 but we won the same fixture 2-0 a couple of weeks ago.  What does that tell us?

The team probably is weaker especially if you compare the team at the same stage as last year. A year ago we had a team of experienced players, now we do not.

We stayed up last season with the form in the early season, and then slowly declined throughout the season. This year we've started slowly, but I think we will grow throughout the season.

The scoreline doesn't tell us very much, a goal here or a missed chance there aren't a sound basis for judging any team.

We did more than play with spirit and endeavour. For an hour it looked as if we could get something out of the game. Last year that feeling evaporated 30 minutes before kick off when the team sheets were handed in.
