I think we'll win 2-1 with goals from Gabby and Bannan, so there.

I think someone mentioned before showing them videos of 94 and 96. Big Ron out-manoeuvred fergie in 94 against the odds. They should definitely have this match on the bus on the trip up to gorton.

The difference is that team contained truly great players like Saunders, Atkinson, Staunton, Townsend and McGrath, who were on a par with their Man United counterparts.

McGrath was truly great, in fact better, Atkinson when he could be arsed was a good player but Staunton? Truly great, are you sure?

Only truly great player from those 5 was McGrath.

We don't stand a chance, they'll easily beat us by at least 3 goals

We might have got away with paulie's formation but they'll spot an extra 50 on the pitch unless they run around a lot.

Even with a completely different XI to the team that played Arsenal I think City will have too much but I expect us to give it a right good go, 2-1 City.

I really hope we shake off whatever it was that caused us to give up on Saturday. We looked really fragile.
Pull yourselves together lads, give 100% for the full ninety ( as you should every game this season) and whatever the result we will back you.
If its 2-0 do your best to keep playing so it doesn't get worse.
I fear even so..City by three.
Prove me wrong.

yes saturdays result and moreso the performance put a massive dent in my confidence, i probably thought we were a bit further on than that result showed, obviously not, so i can only expect a loss tonight,

but as others have said, we do need a better performance, hopefully getting back to the passing game that was getting us somewhere i thought, and 100% effort from all the team

it will be difficult to know what sort of team PL picks, whether he makes changes to give squad players a go or if they are in because of last sats performance

also i wouldnt be supprised to see Given in tonight,
Guzan is rightly the no 1 at the moment and traditionaly these league cup games are the ones you give a game to the no 2, Given is a good keeper so i would have no problem with that if he does pick him

It's maybe a question of semantics, but McGrath was in a class of his own in terms of modern Villa players.  I'd call him legendary, or world class.  And yes, I thought Staunton was a great player for us, we certainly haven't had a better left back since.
