It's remarkable the amount of harrying and chasing down we do when there's either a loose ball to go for, or when they have the ball - it opens up so many more opportunities when you force errors and actuallly win the ball back like that.

Ireland is our weakest link today, as he was last week.
He is really starting to piss me off.

Bannan should have buried that.

He didn't see it til the last moment as Benteke missed his header

Really?

I think he's worked very hard and looks like he can create something.

He has been very poor, you just always feel that his old self is round the corner but when will we see it?!

Very happy with the scoreline, think both sides have been poor but we have edged it.

We will need to improve in the second half if we want the 3 points though.

OK, take a 1-0 lead at HT.  We're slightly fortunate to be a goal up, but it looks like things are going our way at the moment. And the one player we needed to bag a goal, got one.

Hopefully their "season starts here" comments and the pressure they brought make them really nervy in the second half and they gift us another couple.

Nice anticipation from Bent for the goal. Disappointing to see the hoofing going on, particularly after the Swansea game.

Has he?! We're winning 1-0 and he made the goal.

Wouldn't say we have any weak links, all of them have worked their bollocks off. Just need a little more composure and to start to knock it to Benteke's feet, hold it up and build off him.

I can see Gab coming on the last 15 and using his turbo's though.

I must be watching a different game. I think he looks our most dangerous player.

All good so far. Bent deserved his goal. Has played well this season. More of the same, hopefully settle more in the second half and get a couple more goals.

I think this is what you get from Lambert though - horses for courses.  Changing the team and tactics to suit the opposition.  Southampton are obviously a bit shit at the back and we're looking to test them there.

Agree that his work rate has been good and good on him for that but our team needs more from him. His role is the one who should have the best technique and his has let him down a lot today

Agree, he's been working his nuts off.
