The article is as irrelevant as the source.

Oh, I don't know. It's a timely reminder of  Tony Adams' stellar career in football coaching.

I just think we're all lucky he's not a doctor. The phenomenon of `unconscious incompetence' (not realising how shit you are at your job) is well known in the medical world, and it's a killer.

Never bought into the new man nonsense where Adams is concerned. He suddenly reinvented himself as a deep thinking, poetry reading, piano playing new man but he just seemed a complete thicko to me. Bloody useless football manager too, hope he does get the Arsenal job.

but he never said anything insightful he wanted to come across as Oscar Wilde but came across more like Kim

I know, that's why I said he is a thicko. 'Kids in America' is a great pop song though.

yes true sorry Kim

Stick to what you know Tony - open another rehab clinic.

You could call it Centre Half Wit.

Adams footballing knowledge can be summed up by his daily column during Euro 2004 when he insisted that Wayne Rooney wasn't good enough to play for England.

Meatheaded Turps nudger.

He's still just sore about that Derek Mountfield goal.  But we should all pay attention as he is, after all,  a former England captain who in no way ever resembled a four legged animal normally attached to a cart.

One of the most overrated players of his generation. Talked about by the London media like he was something very special when he was really nothing more than a Richard Dunne type of player who was lucky enough to be part of an outstanding Arsenal team.

Ego bigger than his wallet. Twat.
He knows nothing about Villa and like he would ever stand a chance of managing Villa.
Maybe a boot boy, but feck all else. Twat.

Bit worried about the psyche of the Villa faithful of late.

I think that nasty little shit Robbie Savage started it off.

But Ratty would say anything to get attention because without controversy he is essentially pointless - and credit to the smarmy gurning rodent - he knows it.

The Savage style.  One part falsetto, one part Alberto Balsam.

But this latest so-called slur on our great club - well it's a bit vague.  I'm finding it hard to get worked up.  It may well be the Newcastle and Swansea games - I'm not sure.

In life I tend to use two rules before setting the nostrils to 'flare' or firing up the old bile spewer.

Is it true ?  And does it matter?

For me on this score - the Adams affair fails on both tests.

And it fails because one - it's 'journalism' - trust not a jot - not one iota - not even a single scintilla till you see and hear it coming out of Adams' own mouth - in the same order and context - and preferably live - so you can ask him exactly what he means by it.  Otherwise the poor dopey sod may well have meant there's no point at Villa because Villa already have a great manager just in the door.

And applying rule number two - who gives a toss about Tony or his views?  Poor washed up bastard.  He's lost it.  He's lost it all.  Even the singing voice.

Adams - "Mine's a pint"

Aren't we better off taking the piss out of such desperate shenanigans?  And relaxing in the warm and unfamiliar feeling of being a club on the up - and winners.

Only the dregs of sports journalism indulge in this.  Dredging up obscure, half forgotten faces for a quote, then gleefully pouncing on anything anywhere that can be turned into a hook - a selling point.

Let us smile benignly at such barbs - for we are invulnerable as we float, on our majestic rise, up the table.

It's actually one of the most unpleasant characteristics of Arsenal supporters that they are unable to accept that any player could possibly be as good as Tony Adams. That ignorance masquerading as 'passion'.

I've always admired Tony Adams, mainly for forging a career in football whilst being drunk and for continuing that career at the highest level, being, also, fucking shit at playing football. I've always liked a chancer and he's the best.
